Brilliant!!!

Failed actress Alex Sternbergen (Jane Fonda) wakes up hungover one morning in an apartment she does not recognize, unable to remember the previous evening — and with a dead body in bed next to her. As she tries to piece together the events of the night, Alex cannot totally rely on friends or her estranged husband, Joaquin (Raul Julia), for assistance. Only a single ally, loner ex-policeman Turner Kendall (Jeff Bridges), can help her escape her predicament and find the true killer.

Mary, Queen of Scots (1971)

Looking forward to this remember it being brilliant, click the link above.

The pairing of Vanessa Redgrave and Glenda Jackson is most famously known for their roles in the 1971 film Mary, Queen of Scots. Redgrave played Mary Stuart, Queen of Scotland, and Jackson portrayed her rival, Queen Elizabeth I of England. The film depicts the political and personal conflicts between the two queens during a turbulent period in British history.

Linking Back to Jane Fonda We have Julia

Julia (1977)

Variety gave it a positive review, praising Jane Fonda and Vanessa Redgrave as being “dynamite together on the screen”, Richard Roth’s production as “handsome and tasteful”, as well as the period costumes and production design.  Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat of Spirituality & Practice described the film as “extraordinary”, writing: “Julia gives us a genuine and affecting portrait of a friendship between two women who confirm each other and strengthen their bonds over the years.”

The Wall Came Tumbling Down (1984)

Sunday

There wasn’t any food saved from last year, except choc ices.

Cherry brandy is not a traditional pairing with Chinese takeaway, but it can be a surprisingly enjoyable combination, especially with certain dishes. While it’s not a common pairing like beer or white wine, the sweetness and fruitiness of cherry brandy can complement the flavors of some Chinese dishes, particularly those with a touch of sweetness or spice.

Here’s why it can work and what to consider:

Why it might work:

  • Sweetness and fruitiness:Cherry brandy’s sweet and fruity notes can be a nice contrast to savory and spicy dishes commonly found in Chinese cuisine.
  • Complementary flavors:Some Chinese dishes, like sweet and sour dishes or those with a hint of plum sauce, share similar flavor profiles with cherry brandy, potentially creating a harmonious pairing.
  • Digestif potential:Cherry brandy can also be enjoyed as a digestif after a meal, and Chinese food can sometimes be rich, making the brandy a suitable after-dinner drink.

What to consider:

  • Sweetness level:Cherry brandy can vary in sweetness. A sweeter variety might be better suited to dishes with less sweetness, while a drier one could pair better with richer, sweeter dishes.
  • Dish type:Consider the specific dishes you’re ordering. Dishes with strong, contrasting flavors like spicy Szechuan or salty soy-based dishes might not pair as well as those with more subtle sweetness.
  • Personal preference:Ultimately, taste is subjective. If you enjoy the combination, that’s what matters most.

Alternatives to consider:

  • Cocktails with cherry brandy:Some cocktails, like the “Geisha” or “Volga Boatman”, which incorporate cherry brandy, might offer a more balanced flavor profile with Chinese food.
  • Other drinks:Consider options like dry white wines, light beers, or even tea-based cocktails, which are more commonly paired with Chinese cuisine.
