Proceeding forward with film blogging in an uncertain world

During covid we were told there was a new law called, ‘fair use’ with online films and entertainment; where bloggers could create personal fan based blogs using entertainment from the internet.

Pre fair use was copyright.

As I went to Design College I was taught copyright and followed this up until fair use.

Now there is a sort of divide; some people are happy for fair use for their fans, others have gone back to copyright.

Fair use is still actually legal.

I’ve opted to play it safe and go back to what I feel safe with and err on the side of caution.

Why did I start Online Parties?

I just did what I did because I’m not supposed to go outside and I don’t like ballroom dancing or amateur talent contests.

I find I prefer original films to remakes.

As I’m not supposed to go outside I discovered exercise at home videos; I should go outside for a walk everyday as I have low seratonin.

I got asked to join a women helping women scheme and share what I was doing to survive covid online.

What is left?

I’m not bothered either way I suppose.

What I first discovered was lots of blank videos connected to terminated accounts.

As I understand copyright and studied it at Btec Buisness Studies level, I acted as my own lawyer and deleted quite a lot of blogs.

It has taken about a week or so full on to get rid of it all.

It was pretty rubbish quality anyway ~ was just amusing myself and anyone else as bored as I was and fed up with covid fashion that doesn’t fit.

I’m actually quite delighted with what is left.

I can keep my graphic images as I pay for the shutterstock photos in my editing suite.

I can keep my recipe and party ideas as they are sales and from blogs that say you can share and save their recipes on your pinterest. I can’t cook here but hope to try the ones I save. As I’m in the women helping women scheme I wondered if other women with proper kitchens and access to food might like to try them.

The Calendars

These are now amalgimated into the Lifestyle Calendar.

It is what is left after deleting anything that could be copyrighted ~ went a bit mad; the problem for bloggers is you don’t know who is happy with fair use and who isn’t.

Each day is now a bit different and a bit more fluid and not as rigid.

I actually quite like it.

Need to load up loads of gaps on empty days.

Sadly it has become more commercial but I don’t purchase everything every day so it doesn’t matter.

I’m aiming to get back on track with what it was supposed to be now.

The idea is to be fully organised and on track with lifestyle all year round e.g. fake tan and exfoliator in summer, gloves and scarf in Autumn.

It is a really simple idea that wasn’t supposed to involve celebrity anyway.

I’m actually quite relieved as I feel like a weight has lifted, fair use goes against everything I learnt at college.

Also some of the months were bunged up with things that were useless to me and I wasn’t using. Also tried some of the products and didn’t like them.

I think there were some wrongly placed models in covid who would of been employed as a character model pre covid and so forth but looking back I found models for my calendars who I was happy with and they are still there. They are prettier than me anyway so I accept them as fashion models and tend to look for them when I’m shopping.

I had a placement in a graphic design studio once; what they have is a photography book with models for every job they might be doing e.g. grandad eating toffee or glamorous young women modelling perfume and so forth.

Since covid it is like someone muddelled the advertising model book up?

All the models are obviously photegenic and happy to be photographed but someone needs to tidy the files up for the poor graphic artists; their job is quite fast paced so the ones choosing the right models must have to work even harder ~ maybe this is why sales and the economy have slowed down.

Just saying in MHO.

As I’m bored I sift through the models for you.

The Lifestyle Calendar is still there if you like my choices and want to use it still.

Perfume Junky

This is all archived so you can still access it every week.

I’ve deleted anything with celebrities on just in case so might have to fill in some gaps.

Any celebrities are in advertisements so it is counted as sales.

I’d recommend not saving random celebrity images onto your pinterest in case they are copyrighted.

Online Parties

I can piece together the parties again.

I will have to use paid film options now though due to the current copyright confusion.

What you do is collect the films then have a themed party around them.

We tried to set up this idea years ago.

You choose a film or two then invite fellow nerds round to have a film fest.

(I discovered these films in HMV then stacked them in my Drinks Cabinet.)

The new addition to this idea is food and drinks with a theme.

The Next Party is The Victorian Party.

Will load some films to purchase off the internet.

You can add more by browsing the net.

Maybe what is left is fair use?

Just keep it private or draft to be safe.

Film Wish List

If the way forward with film blogging is purchasing films I’m happy to do this as they collect up slowly and I’ve got loads now.

I emptied my dvd cabinet and it is now a drinks cabinet.

Some of the films for my parties are now copyrighted, but you can’t purchase them online.

I had an idea to create a film wishlist.

For instance I found a film with Jessica Lange about Patsy Cline.

I love this film and had never seen it before ~ but it wasn’t for sale on You Tube.

I’d watch that every year at the 50’s party so it is actually better value than going to the cinema and also you can have a party and a few drinks within your government allowance.

A film wish list is a good idea.

I forget what I want to purchase otherwise.

Hopefully someone will see it and instead of destroying film blogging ~ support it.

They could do 3 for 1 offers.

Or bargain prices for old films like blockbuster video used to.

I was told the idea was to keep old films alive.

Conclusion

Hope you are keeping well with the new changes.

I’m ploughing away again at putting as much back together for you as quickly as possible.

As I’m bored it is something for me to do.

If you are doing the same as me hope you have found loads of stuff left that you are happy with too.

We are trying to get The Carbonnel et Walker Chocolates for the party and can’t wait for the Victorian Perfume Junky.

Will load more into this file for you and see what else I can salvage.

Enjoy.
