SATURDAY MAKEUP DAY/TV MAKEUP/A GIRL CAN’T ALWAYS HAVE EVERYTHING/CREATING YOUR OWN MAKEUP STYLE

Quite an ironic title as I can’t have my makeup look at the moment.

I’m supposed to have flat comedy eyebrows that obviously don’t suit my face shape.

And Bright Red Sexy lips that emphasize my chin area.

Luckily my natural eyebrows are fine and thin so I can’t do that look anyway.

I have aquired three light coloured lipsticks so will plough on into this new frontier of makeup in the hope it helps you too.

Decided to do all three looks but start with Guerlain.

I used to wear dark coloured Guerlain lipstick until someone told me it didn’t suit me.

I love Guerlain Makeup so will shop what suits me, but you may prefer to copy the Joan Collins look.

If it isn’t Guerlain you can create this look with Guerlain.

Even her jewellery and top match Shalimar Design colours.

This lip is possibly lipliner, lip stain and lip gloss, which is actually flattering if you don’t suit a heavier red lip.

I still don’t suit this so will copy the idea with the lighter coloured lip.

If you have to wear red lip for your job this is actually a more subtle way to wear it. This is more like your natural lip colour so not as bold and harsh.

Just noticed a dark one I might try, someone once taught me a technique to make bold lipstick look natural and classic, think I had no idea so people kept trying to teach me.

This is like tropical Coral as oppose to the ones I’m used to.

520 SEXY CORAL

Have to laugh as my look has gone because I’m not sexy. English middleclass women can’t even bring themselves to say this word so it obviously isn’t aimed at them.

Have had to get my head around some awful names like bad girl and so forth, you could peel the label off and say you forgot what colour it is ~ no one asks anyway, apart from once when I had a lipstick called Miss Sporty.

That was this bright but I used a technique a male friend once taught me to make it softer and not as brash ~ he called it classic style.

Apparently I suit classic style makeup but not sexy ~ I’m obviously not sexy so happy with this.

Will use Guerlain to do a version of this look and one for the end of Month 70’s party.

Not sure how much I can load up as our camera has a comedy app that makes you look stupid.

I’m actually trying to create looks that are stylish and not comedy.

I’ve started doing this eyeshadow look and really like it, was from a model on love thy neighbour the film.

Highly recommend Guerlain makeup as I used to buy it.

This is high end.

Haven’t used it for a while so will order a few products then review for you.

The Tropical Coral lipstick will come in for the 50’s party as well as women who weren’t sexy in the 50’s could opt for bright orange as oppose to red.

What does it mean to be sexy?

AI Overview

Being sexy means being sexually attractive, exciting, or interesting, stemming from physical allure, confidence, and self-assuredness, but it extends beyond looks to include personality, style, and charisma, creating an enticing aura that arouses desire and makes someone appealing or trendy. It’s a subjective quality, varying person to person, encompassing a blend of physical presentation, inner confidence, and the ability to provoke romantic or erotic interest.

Key Aspects of Being Sexy:

  • Physical Attractiveness: Often involves enhancing features, good grooming, well-fitted clothes that highlight best assets, and elements like facial symmetry or pleasing features, but it’s more than just conventional beauty.
  • Confidence & Self-Assurance: A crucial element is feeling comfortable in one’s own skin and unapologetically owning one’s sexuality, rather than apologizing for it.
  • Seductive Qualities: This includes a seductive gaze, charm, playfulness, and an inviting, flirtatious demeanor.
  • Beyond the Physical: It can describe anything exciting, stylish, or captivating, like a “sexy” new car or a “sexy” idea, indicating appeal and trendiness.
  • Arousal of Desire: Ultimately, it’s about the ability to elicit sexual or romantic interest and create arousal in others, making them want to be near you.

In essence, being sexy is a captivating blend of outward appeal and inner magnetism that draws others in, making someone desirable and exciting.

I try to do the opposite and play hard to get ~ guess this is for a new era of teenagers.

I’m not trendy either, I opt for classic style which is different to classy.

“Classic” refers to timeless, enduring styles with clean lines, tailored cuts, and neutral colors (like a white shirt or trench coat), emphasizing quality and tradition, while “classy” describes something elegant, sophisticated, and stylish, often implying high quality and good taste, which can apply to both classic items and more modern, chic looks, focusing on polished presentation and high standards in behavior or appearance. The core difference is that classic is about timelessness, whereas classy is about elegance and sophistication, though classic styles are often inherently classy

Classic Style

  • Focus: Timelessness, enduring appeal, tradition.
  • Characteristics: Clean silhouettes, tailored fits, high-quality fabrics (silk, cashmere), neutral palettes (navy, beige, white), simple prints (stripes, polka dots).
  • Examples: A white button-down shirt, a black shift dress, tailored trousers, a trench coat, pearl earrings.

Classy Style

  • Focus: Elegance, sophistication, polished presentation, high standards.
  • Characteristics: Can overlap with classic but also includes modern chic; a refined overall look, good grooming, tasteful choices, and a confident demeanor.
  • Examples: A well-fitted little black dress, a silk blouse with smart jeans, a sharp blazer, or even impeccable manners and emotional intelligence.

Key Distinction

  • Classic: A type of style defined by its historical roots and lasting appeal (e.g., a classic car).
  • Classy: A quality or descriptor of something that appears elegant and high-class, whether it’s a classic item or a trendy one.

In essence, a classic item is almost always considered classy, but a classy look can sometimes be more modern and less strictly “classic” as long as it embodies elegance and sophistication.

I wasn’t allowed to wear certain clothes as a teenager so my mum brought us up to be classic style, but she would sometimes make us wear hideous trends.

That was why people told me to opt for classic style.

We definately weren’t allowed to be sexy had that knocked out of us.

My family were rich somewhere back in time so guess the breeding filtered down a bit.

I think I do my own thing then maybe.

I find classic style a bit boring sometimes but hate the word, ‘sexy’ as I couldn’t care less if people are attracted to me or not.

I think I prefer creating my own style with its own rules.

I’d call this lipstic Tropical Coral as it transports you to a warm climate in cold England.

The colour is just from a type of coral so no one really owns the colour.

This is Tropical orange

Just found an orange coral colour called Peach

This works well too if you don’t suit red.

GUERLAIN Kisskiss Shine Bloom Lipstick

Peach Kiss

Prefer this name

It is more orange than Peaches and Cream.

Maybe it would suit orange kiss better?

Or Tropical Orange Coral?

I’m going for orange so suits what I’m aiming for.

If it is more peaches and cream when you get it will let you know.

I love that look so will gear the ideas to how they turn out.

This is the problem with shopping on line ~ particularly with colour.

If it is low end prices not as much a problem but for £38.00 a lipstick.

As I’m obviously canny with my money I do find this problematic.

I’m happy to plough on with Makeup Saturday as it is something for me to do.

Hopefully my attitude to spending money on makeup will prove fruitfull for you.

Hopefully it will work out well as I would like to enjoy high end makeup again; I want to be like the middle class women in Debenhams and House of Fraser.

Orange Cup Coral

It is more Tropical Red.

I’m going to build this lipstick into my old Fake Tan look.

I used to have really thin consistency lipstick stains with my fake tan as well as peachy coral that might of been invented up?

Will refer to it as Coral Reef Red to help middleclass women who can’t say sex get over the shock of the name.

I always thought Guerlain was high end makeup as Rich Middle class women like Vicars wives used to buy it at Debenhams.

I used to buy one lipstick as I’ve realised I’m tight, but they would be buying truckloads of Guerlain.

I’m going to buy truckloads today and have some of the fun they were having.

Hope my re styling ideas work for you; will work a bit harder at it now.

Apparently makeup is often aimed at rebelling teenagers even though they don’t have the money.

This is an age old argument that has gone on forever.

Think you just have to get over it, get on with your life and ignore it. Look towards women your own age who are wearing makeup and be inspired by them instead.

I’ve noticed on Instagram different women buy the same product but take it to a different place ~ this could be what is termed as a game changer for you.

Tropical Guerlain Look

I think this will be wonderful as you can also get all the lovely greens and blues ~ I’d introduce the colours into my fashion and maybe just use a hint in your eyeshadow. Leave the full on face look to the teenagers that are probably doing it to cope with being a teenager.

Will have to blog my ideas as I used watercolour at college as oppose to the heavier oil paint look that is on trend.

Watercolour is used by designers whereas oil paints are used by artists.

I had started a journal comparing makeup with art as I didn’t do art I would probably be better comparing makeup to design.

(I always intended to keep my art going so hopefully will get that back too.

My paintings weren’t taken seriously as I had a design degree, but I could exhibit them as textile art.

Then I decided I’d rather keep them than sell them.)

Going for Tropical Exoticism

I suppose you might be reading this and want to be sexy so this current trend in makeup might be just what you are looking for.

I haven’t got a problem with this; it is our lives and we can do what we want with them. It isn’t anyone elses buisness really.

The link to this shop is on Weekend TV as this blog is a bit rambling.

Will load up what I get in Makeup Hauls, then hopefully get a proper camera to photograph what I do with it.

I’m not a model but somehow have ended up doing this.

I’m just going for the fun aspect of makeup and want my life back.

I love colour so will enjoy trying different colour ideas and finding out how to get them to work on fair skin with dark hair.

This used to be my go to liquid eyeliner so will be interesting to see if it is still my favourite.
