RECIPES TO GET YOU BACK TO HEALTHY LIVING BY A NOVICE COOK

I’ve started making up my own healthy recipes using the steaming method as it is all I can do until I have an extractor fan again.

Made a recipe the other night and it wasn’t that bad.

One thing I have discovered is steaming saves on calories in oils.

I use loads of healthy oils in cookery, but I found my experiment the other night quite interesting.

I started off by realising using just fresh ingredients is a bit like being a student; we just made simple food like vegetarian food, pasta, curry and soup.

I’m cutting out pasta and rice this year so it is like making the above ideas but without pasta or rice.

I got cookery O level at school, as my mum made me choose feminine options, so I might enjoy doing this.

If you aren’t slimming this is obviously not going to be of interest to you, but if you are struggling to get slimming food still this might be of use to you or if nothing else inspire you.

We just cook everything in trays with foil over that creates the steaming method of cooking.

If you have a hob you can steam in double boiler pans or get Japanese steamers made from bamboo.

What would be preferable would be cooking in a wok with a steamer also.

Mid week in our household was stir fry and pasta before covid.

I dated a chef once and learnt how to cook from him; so maybe some ideas might come back.

To be a cook or chef you invent your own recipes and don’t follow recipes in books.

What I create here won’t be chef level as I have no training in it, but I think ordinary housewives used to invent their own recipes so it is allowed and quite normal.

I will pop my ideas in the simple healthy recipe file.

Some of the stuff I make is awful so I will just write up what works.

On Hart to Hart the other week they had baked cottage cheese, really inspired to try that, will let you know if I work out how to do it and like it.

Also steaming in trays is really quick so it is like making your own ready meals.

Conclusion

Apparently there are all sorts of problems with food and cooking at the moment so I realised we might not be on our own with our oven problem.

I like food and eating so it will be joyfull for me to do this project.

As I’m a lifestyle blogger and healthy eater food is an important part of lifestyle.

My problem is I get bored of food if I just eat the same thing everyday.

After such an awful detox experience I now want to be carefull what I put back in.

I used to like cooking but followed recipes.

After a few tries of making things up last week decided I’m up for this project.

If nothing else it might inspire your lifestyle or lifestyle blogs and so forth.

It is good for us to have variety in life and remembering past cooking experiences is good for our memory.

Not sure how much I will be able to load up because of my other commitments, but the good recipes I would like to keep and chart.

Also the recipes are printable with an image you can colour in with coloured pencils.

Hope this is of interest to you.
