Now the British Summer Holiday Party is out of the way, launching these rather rambly detox notes.
What is a note?
1. As a written record:
A short, informal piece of writing used to remind oneself of something or to communicate a quick message.
Examples include: a shopping list, a reminder about an appointment, or a quick message left for someone.
Also used to describe taking notes in class or during a meeting to record information.

I’ve never been an addict so I confused detoxing with addiction and thought it wasn’t for me.
A few years into Dry January, insisting we all go dry in January but also vegan and just stay vegan and non alcoholic? (rubbish if your birthday is January; I know as my birthday month also became an irratating month.) I’m now beginning to see the truth behind the tense authoritarian detox platform.
I tried to help at first thinking up not so dry January, especially in Britain when January is so cold.
Also a lot of us have an extra week off after christmas or people who work during christmas may have their holidays in January to then just be told they aren’t allowed food or drink ~ great.
We are doing the Potter tradition now ~ where you drink sherry to keep warm.
We love sherry so we are drinking Sherry in Dec and Jan.
Potter starts on the third week in December if you enjoy it too and like keeping warm with Sherry.
Detox Year Planning
What I’ve discovered is everyone needs a detox from time to time as it clears allsorts out.
What I was doing is a sort of detox by default because I had stress flu, the way to go with this is detox to prevent stress flu or maybe stress flu is the bodies way of demanding a detox.
Also you don’t have to go vegan or stop drinking alcohol altogether ~ you can still eat meat, but you need to stop drinking until the detox finishes.
Furthermore I got my usual detox drink which said seasonal detox on the packet.
If January is your birthday and you enjoy christmas opt for a February Winter detox instead.
If you only do one detox a year and your not on holiday in July, July is turning out quite well as it is nicer not drinking in a heatwave, but if you are going on holiday in July you are going to want to drink and have some fun probably.
If I went on holiday in summer might not bother with summer detox, but am definately being sold on a November detox.
Detoxing isn’t really fun, but a lot more fun when you work it out.
Just realised you want to leave appropriate gaps or you would end up going from one detox to another which is actually drugs/alcoholics rehibillitation.
Detox therefore doesn’t actually work for alcoholics or drug addicts; if you are this you need AA or a rehab clinic where you would get continous support.
Detox can be done safely and easily on your own at home.
Example of seasonal detoxing:
I will do July then possibly November. then February then April.
There is a pattern with dry January, but I wouldn’t get my birthday month then.
Wonder if dry January fits into someones schedule?
Maybe it is the same person all the clothes in the shops fit?
Not sure how they can affect the yearly calendar and fashion and annoy everyone?
Just saying.

Crystal Spring Detoxology Footpads
Description
14 natural detox footpads – two weeks’ supply
With green tea extract, tourmaline crystal & ginger extract
Put on one foot at night before bedtime, and then take off in the morning
Reflexologists believe that every organ of your body is reflected in energy points on your feet, therefore treating your feet can help balance your whole body.
Crystal Spring Detoxology Footpads are thought to stimulate your reflexology pressure points and work whilst you sleep. They’re a natural source of negative ions and Far Infrared, and are made using a combination of natural herbs and semi precious tourmaline crystal.
Directions:
Before you go to bed – 1. Take one adhesive sheet and one footpad out of the box. 2. Unwrap the footpad from its protective plastic film. 3. Carefully peel off the paper on the back of the adhesive pad. 4. Place the footpad onto the middle of the adhesive sheet. Please take care to make sure the side of the footpad with the Crystal Spring logo is placed against the adhesive sheet. 5. Put the footpad on your foot. Mid foot is fine however if you would like to be more adventurous, use the reflexology chart on the reverse of this leaflet. We suggest alternating between your left and right foot each night. 6. Go to sleep and take the pad off in the morning. It’s that easy!
Experiencing pain on one of my feet; where I dropped some frames on them years ago and bruised my toe.
The nerd says it is healing it.
It had stopped hurting, the pads have revived the original pain.

Using Magnesium flakes in my daily footbath
As my toe is hurting thought this might help

It is advised that 2-3 magnesium rich baths are taken per week. Increase frequency as required.
Three weeks in my toe didn’y hurt as much and really enjoyed the Magnesium footbath.
Glow days on spa days and detox
If you are taking photographs you obviously want to look matte and not shiny.
As this July has turned into a full on 4 week detox, I’ve discovered my face is in better condition and glowing; I realise where people are confusing glow with oily skin. Bizarelly Oily skin is quite good unless you dry it out too much.
As it is amber warning in Britain; glow spa treatments are actually a great idea to stop skin drying out.
Today I sort of wondered if Spa and Professional Photography have got muddled up somewhere during covid.
Spa Treatments
You need to do these when your not doing anything else I suppose, especially detox as you have to commit to it and maybe do glow skin or hair masks that thicken hair and so forth.
Professional Photography/Social Media
For this you want matte doll like complexions, (created by shiny spa days) shine needs to be controlled and you may opt for more professional products that look good on camera but then need detoxing out.
I only do amateur social media, but this realisation might be of use to young professionals.
Vaguely remember being told that in a professional beauty salon pre covid.
Detox Box
Decided to store any unused product in this ready for next detox and stock it so I’m ready to go.
In week three I have been so tired took another week off exercise, thinking about it if the world goes back to normal you would be having a week or two off in July anyway for your holidays.
I’m sort of plateauing so it doesn’t matter anyway.
I’ve stopped taking my usual supplements to introduce my detox products decided in week 3 Friday to reintroduce my supplements with my detox drink.
Discovered I find gummies easier to take.
Think I need to sort my supplements out so they are small tablets, gummies or liquids; the larger supplements put me off taking them.
Not Exercising During Detox
This month I have done a week of Janes July, then sort of felt tired.
When we detox we sometimes use our energy to clear unwanted residues out of our bodies; this can take up most of our energy with not much left for exercise.
This month has been a mega detox for me, so I have listened to my body and only exercised for one week.
Have to say I have enjoyed the rest.
If I’d been on holiday I wouldn’t of exercised so makes no difference really.
This is why some people might opt for January detox so they can slim down for summer.
Achieving Goal Weight/Exercise Free Months
Once you achieve goal weight having time off exercise doesn’t matter I suppose, as long as you maintain and charter your weigh in days as usual to monitor maintenance.
I’m considering detoxing in November, but the problem here is slimming for Christmas.
Last year I did a condensed slimming program in the build up to christmas and lost a few pounds.
If I maintain in July, I can use this information to decide whether to do a November detox.
Think this idea should work.
I usually have off around this time with stress flu anyway, so detoxing is preferrable.
I’m starting christmas shopping in September again, so hopefully this plan will work.
When will Christmas 2025 launch on Boots.com?
While Christmas is traditionally a one-day only event, we’re never ones to miss out on a sale, so keep checking the Boots website across the months of September to December to discover even more christmas gifts! Even after Christmas has ended, Boots has offers and gifting all year round, no matter the season.
Then December is:
November is Nutritional November, so an ideal time to learn more about detoxing and nutrition.
Decided to do November detox; then I don’t have to detox again till Spring and Spring Cleaning.
Join in if you want or work out a detox plan that suits your lifestyle better or just do dry January if that suits you best.
If you don’t need to loose any weight will obviously be resting in November, then just doing exercise for health in December.
Even if weight loss isn’t the primary goal, engaging in regular cardio is crucial for maintaining overall health.
The American Heart Association recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity or 75 minutes of vigorous-intensity aerobic activity per week, or a combination of both, ideally spread throughout the week. This can be achieved through various activities like brisk walking, cycling, swimming, or jogging.

What I discovered this detox
I don’t know what I’m doing with detox, but it seems a good idea to assess each detox and chart what has happened and any health realisations.
I haven’t exercised, not put weight on but gained inches in my problem area.
Now I’ve lost 2 1/2 stone it means I don’t have to exercise as much.
The nerd says I’ve gained these inches because I’ve gone too skinny.
This detox is therefore about finding balance.
I want my problem area to go down, but need to stop calorie burning exercises.
We need to do cardio to stay healthy though.
Ideally I’ll go back to walking outside, (my favourite exercise.) I also like yoga.
Not as keen on strength, but this is a recommended form of exercise as we get older.
I like the strength workouts I’ve found as they are enough for me.
The new August Workout if you have lost weight and are at your target weight.
Your BMI is in the healthy weight category.Your body mass index result is shown on a chart here. A full description can be found in the text below it.
Your BMIChart description
This BMI chart shows your BMI result of 19.2 as a cross in the healthy weight area.
The chart is a horizontal bar divided into 4 areas.
Underweight is shown in purple. It is to the left of the chart. A BMI of 18.4 and below is classed as underweight.
Healthy is shown in green. It is next to the purple section. A BMI of 18.5 to 24.9 is classed as a healthy weight.
Overweight is shown in yellow. It is next to the green section. A BMI of 25 to 29.9 is classed as overweight.
Obese is shown in red. It is next to the yellow section and is on the right of the bar chart. A BMI of 30 or more is classed as obese.
What your result means
A BMI between 18.5 and 24.9 is classed as a healthy weight.
Try to keep your weight the same or in the healthy weight range for your height.
This will help prevent any weight-related health problems, like type 2 diabetes or heart disease.Find out the best weight range for your height
The best weight for your height is between 7 stone 10 pounds and 10 stone 5 pounds.
The worse I got was ten and a half stone but then without shoes ten stone 5 lol!!!
I have more complements when I was that weight ~ just shows.
Having a Chicken Mcdonald and Chips tonight lol!!!
I guess I feel I’m going to be more beautiful if I loose weight, but in reality this isn’t always the case.
I feel better exercising and enjoy food, (although have to admit my favourite food has always been healthy even when I was little and didn’t understand nutrition.) ~ so interesting what will happen by next detox.
Need to sort my waist out more than anything.
My waist was more at ten stone 5 so if I was ten stone five with a waist under 26.5 inches that would be healthy, but possibly not doable due to my body type.

Video: Measure your waist
BMI is just one way to measure health. It cannot tell you if you’re carrying too much fat, or if you’ve got lots of muscle.
It is advised that you measure your waist to find out if you’re carrying too much fat around your tummy.
You should try to keep your waist measurement to half your height.
This video explains how to measure your waist and find out if it’s less or more than half your height.
you’re concerned about your weight
your waist size is more than half your height and you’re concerned about this
you have, or you think you may have, an eating disorder
I need to focus on my waist a lot this month, but whilst maintaining my weight and keeping up cardio and so forth.
To maintain a healthy weight, adults generally need between 1,600 and 3,000 calories per day, but this can vary based on age, sex, activity level, height, and weight. Men typically require more calories than women, and individuals who are more active need more calories than those who are less active.
Calorie Requirements to Maintain a healthy Weight
Here’s a more detailed breakdown:
General Guidelines:The NHS recommends 2,000 calories per day for women and 2,500 for men, but these are averages and individual needs can vary.
Age and Activity Levels:
Younger adults (19-30): Men may need 2,400 to 3,000 calories, while women may need 1,800 to 2,400.
Older adults (31-59): Men may need 2,200 to 3,000 calories, while women may need 1,600 to 2,200.
Older adults (60+): Men may need 2,000 to 2,600 calories, and women may need a similar range.
Active individuals: need more calories than those who are sedentary.
Individualized Needs:Tools online can provide a more tailored estimate based on individual factors like weight, height, and activity level.
Importance of a Balanced Diet:It’s important to focus on the quality of the food you eat, not just the number of calories. A balanced diet with plenty of nutrients is crucial for overall health.
Monitoring Weight:Tracking your weight and how your clothes fit can help you determine if your calorie intake is appropriate for maintaining your weight. If you’re gaining weight, you may need to adjust your calorie intake or increase your physical activity.

Calorie Intake Chart
This chart shows estimated calorie needs. It should only be used as a reference point because everybody’s metabolism is different, even when they are the same size, sex, and age.
Calculator.net is the most accurate ~ glad I found this one.
Hope it helps you too.
You need to make sure you are eating enough as well.
Final Results
We didn’t manage a month just 3 weeks.
We came down with some sort of virus in week four that was apparently going round.
I have gained a few inches in my problem area, but maintained my weight.
Instead of sparkling eyes, I feel a bit lousy.
Will have to try again in November and hopefully get a proper result.
Despite all this I’m glad I did it and have discovered quite a lot.
My sleep patterns went a bit rubbish with my pain experience and am hoping it has cleared medication out.
Will go back to my new exercise program in August.
My clutter however is doing really well and have started a fairly good organisation system for it.
Detox is all about, ‘You’.
All your spare time is for you and all the things you don’t usually get time to get round too as your free time is for partying or exercising.
Maybe this is why some people are detox addicts?
The hard bit is then drinking again, but drinking and having fun is also classed as essential by some life coaches.
For me detox is about finding a balance and making a bit of time for myself by slowing down and assessing my problems and so forth.
But then having a party, (during party seasons,) at the weekends and letting off a bit of steam which is another way of detoxing I suppose.
Conclusion
I love time management and organisation.
Now I’m getting the gist of detox realise I actually like it.
Hope this idea works for you too.
Will mean 4 months off from exercise a year or less exercise depending how you feel, plus bank holidays and christmas.
Basically Rehibiliatation is for drugs and alcohol addicts.
Detox is for everyone as it just flushes out medical prescription drugs our own body waste that we create to heal stuff that happens to us like stress and so forth, also it gives our body time to reflect on where it wants to go next with exercise or health issues.
One nice discovery I have made is where I have been neglecting myself.
e.g.My feet are getting pampered with this detox.
Really enjoyed this detox.
If you like this way of detoxing too, I’m getting a detox box together for November.
You can do this too or look at the planner and have a bit of a think; choose a month or all the seasons that suit your lifestyle.
If January doesn’t suit you, just work out which season does suit you.
I’m a lot happier with this.
Hope you enjoyed this blog.
Looking forward to learning more at next detox and having another assessment.

(I guess the more you detox, the more it makes sense; will write up my November Detox experience and hopefully be even more enlightened.)
