Makeup Journal/stop using your old stash – get with the flow of the new

Spent all sunday afternoon pottering around and thinking about something I had read on Instagram.

As I’m preparing for the end of the month 70’s party, decided to try out loads of different looks.

Before I could do this we had to work out some legal stuff in small print on the back of some makeup.

Bizarrely I have had to study vintage makeup to work out how to do new makeup.

All these hurdles jumped and today I feel really happy with my makeup progress.

All my old stuff is now packed in storage.

I have created quite a lot of new storage by doing this.

Just about all my makeup products now are new or new products from older ranges still available to purchase today.

If you don’t get what is out there, maybe some of my film and tv makeup blogs might inspire you.

I’ve opted for a 70’s air hostess look for the end of the month 70’s party in the slimming calender, but incorporated new makeup trends as I don’t like the red/brown/orangey lip of the air hostess look.

I like her bottom lashes and ridiculous amount of blusher.

Tried to create this from Rimmel bronze and Starlaa blush from my benefit calendar.

I mixed this with frida and went for bronzed flesh tones and turquoise, my eyes have got flecks of blue in so I suited this colour.

The Frida lip is the bronzed lip look, which is the trending concealer lip, which basically means use your concealer as lipstick.

Need to practice this more.

Means no difference to me, but surely not good if your job is selling lipstick?

So far I prefer light lipstick, but it could do with just a bit of colour.

As I haven’t bushy eyebrows, I need makeup.

Lipstick was the makeup product I purchased most, but if retailers don’t want my money will have to use concealer instead?

I also tried filling my lips with a loreal lip liner which worked brilliantly, but was too dark for me.

This worked brilliantly as a lipstick, just draw around your outer lip line first. Then colour in like a colouring book.

Really good product.

Just need shade light pink or the pink I used to wear or fake tan lip colour that suits me.

Think the answer is here somewhere.

I prefer this lip to the airhostess lip and I prefer matte to gloss.

I like her bottom lash as a more natural look, than the thicker air hostess lash look.

But then I want some colour as I have dark hair.

Like her thick lash, created this with a benefit mascara.

I think it must of been this one as it was full size.

I prefer Loreal as I’m not American so never quite got what a bad gal is?

If this is my only option it worked well.

If I had a choice I’d get Loreal mascara, used that brand since I found it, feel more comfortable with it and it works.

Think I only like the Benefit blushes as they are really pretty and kitsch.

I don’t like bushy eyebrows so don’t want loads of brow products?

Also don’t like red lipstick.

I liked the Benefit grocer basket and the blushes.

Would re purchase the eyeliner, mascara, maybe not one called bad gal though?

If I’m honest I don’t really get Benefit yet?

Not sure who their market is?

Revolution palettes

Tried these and I think they are really good.

They are almost like quads but in a larger palette.

I liked the turquoise in this one for the 70’s look.

tried some of the orangey peach on my cheeks

This palette is perfect for what I want.

Then I also used the quad in the bottom left of the palette for the Frida look.

Not sure how Revolution is so affordable?

The packaging is quite basic I suppose.

I’d pay more to have these colours in high end packaging.

Wasn’t sure what you did with yellow?

Think I’d like to fill my new stash with Revolution eyeshadow and blusher palettes.

There is more palettes to come yet ~ yeah!!!

highly recommend.

Revolution Satin Kiss Lipstick

I used to opt for satin and matte lipsticks, so hopefully the Revolution lipstick range will start getting more colours.

Until then I’ll struggle with using my concealer as a lipstick I suppose.

I’m going to go for this hairstyle also rather than the harsher air hostess one with earings.

If you like this lip colour maybe you can achieve it with the only Revolution lipstick colour.

Conclusion

Weirdly I have had to pack away my modern makeup and study 70’s makeup to work out how to use the new makeup trends?

It is almost like going backwards instead of progressing forwards?

Really glad I found Mr Axelfords Angel, blogged the looks and tried them.

Hope this helps you if you are feeling panicky or worried where to go with your makeup looks.

Have to say I prefer pink lipstick with dark brown hair, but I feel a bit more confident now with the new trends.

Now I’m studying makeup, I would encourage you to try new makeup but do your own thing with it.

Hopefully I will manage to do some sort of look lol!!!

Hope this inspires you.
