Makeup Journal

As it was makeup Saturday yesterday and most of my films broke and there weren’t alternatives, I tried out some of my new makeup.

Still No joy with eyeshadow palettes

Not sure, but wonder if most palettes I have just suit blondes or ginger haired women?

I followed one routine and as I’m brunette with fair skin it just looked like I wasn’t wearing any makeup, so I may as well not of bothered with all the effort.

I know I don’t suit gold either and there was a lot of gold.

I don’t suit shiny beige colours either.

Strangely older women are saying to wear shiny colours, but they used to say not to wear shiny colours if you are older?

My mum used to/maybe still does wear rouge which was more waxy than blusher, so there may be some truth in what they are saying but my products so far aren’t like rouge.

Apart from one of the products I think worked maybe which is called chisel cheeks.

Barry M Cosmetics

Contouring Highlighting Cream Set

About this product

Barry M’s new Contour Creams are perfect for a beautifully sculpted, flawless and defined makeup look. The super blendable creams have been created to adapt to all skin tones to give perfectly sculpted features.

argos.co.uk/product

This product fits into the applying makeup like an artist category I think.

Really trying to learn how to do this technique.

As it is a brown colour I would never of opted for this as a blusher, but I’m slowly getting it I think.

This product is like starting to do an oil painting, where you build it up with browns and sanguines and so forth.

If you leave it like this it isn’t a complete painting.

This is where I’m not very good as I don’t like oil painting.

I used to like oil crayons so I might have a chance here as they are actual crayons.

As Makeup Saturday turned into a messy experiment day my face just looked a mess, but later in the evening I noticed my face did look a bit slimmer.

This isn’t a star product yet as I’m still learning how to use it, I think it does work though.

This will be moved into the products to investigate more bag.

Rimmel loose powder versus No7 Loose powder

Rimmel

Silky Loose Face Powder

No7 Pro Artist

Set The Scene Loose Setting Powder Translucent

boots.com/no7-pro-artist-set-the-scene-loose-setting-powder-translucent

The obvious comparison here is you get more powder in the No7 one, but the No7 one is the yellow colour people are moaning about and the rimmel one is true translucent.

I’m rubbish at maths so do the math.

Rather than moan I’m going to cut my losses and think this through.

Obviously the jar can be recycled and I won’t purchase the No7 one again unless it changes back to translucent, maybe it never was translucent anyway?

The Rimmel one worked well over the Barry M chisel cheeks so even though you get less product this is going into star products.

Have to wonder if it is more practical to have less powder anyway, when I took the lid off the No7 jar to get my cotton pad in most of it tipped out and went everwhere, where the Rimmel one didn’t.

Rimmel Highlighter/Contour/Blush Sculpting Palette

Product details

Rimmel Highlighter/Contour/Blush Sculpting Palette

  • Highlight, blusher & contour
  • Works with every face shape and skin tone
  • Adds definition and structure

The Kate Moss Sculpting Palette is a clever combo of three powder shades – a highlighter, contour and blush – that seamlessly blend with your natural skin tone to create a contoured look. The kit works with every face shape and skin tone, adding definition and structure. Use a little colour for a natural, fresh look. Or be bold for an impactful, dramatic sculpted effect.

How to use

The kit makes sculpting and contouring as easy as 1, 2, 3…

  • 1. The soft shimmer highlighter is used to highlight areas that naturally catch the light – cheek bones, brow bones, the center of the chin, forehead and bridge of the nose.
  • 2. The darker shading powder is used to contour and recede areas of the face that you don’t want to emphasis, such as the sides of the nose, jaw line and hairline.
  • 3. The shimmer powder blush gives definition and colour to the cheeks and added warmth to the whole face.

boots.com/rimmel-london-sculpting

I used this over the Barry M chisel cheeks, my room is quite dark and the storm didn’t help so couldn’t see what I was doing very well, but obviously the two products together under the loose powder did create an effect.

I’m surprised these colours worked on me, so am wondering about the yellowy coloured No 7 powder.

I suppose all you can do is keep watching tutorials and have experimental days till you are completely sure.

The shimmer isn’t too much so like this product.

I think I need to practice this technique a lot more but it definately slimmed my face.

Sindy is considering using it on her cheeks and jawline too as people keep making fun of her and doing her hair wrong, then putting her in clothes that emphasise her chin.

Quite like her almost white lipstick.

Suppose it creates a sculptural look, I did pottery at school so might be like that a bit.

Maybelline Hyper Precise Defining Liquid Eyeliner – Black

Exclusive felt tip that never dries and never skips. The ultra-thin 0.4mm brush supplies smooth, even lines. No mess or excess. Why you’ll love it.

argos.co.uk/product

Not sure about this it didn’t show up, but maybe it isn’t supposed to?

It is precise, something I’m rubbish at, but when I tested it on the back of my hand it was like a biro running out of ink.

Put it in the not sure what to do with bag.

Maybelline Eye Studio Gel Eyeliner – Black

Discover our 1st Catwalk-inspired liner. Contains a professional brush Gel formula. Seeing is believing. Intense Color. Non Transfer. Up to 24-hour wear.

This was the other way, went on too well and had to take it off.

Need to practice with this as the 60’s video said I need white on my eyelid, so too much eyeliner is equivelent to dark eyeshadow.

Really pleased with these brushes as I’ve rediscovered a few favourites.

I really need some proper brush cleaner to protect the brushes, but finding it impossible to get.

Just need to learn and practice all the other ones.

No7 Precision Lips Pencil

boots.com/no7-precision-lips-pencil

This went on really well, but I think it is too dark for me. The quality is brilliant though compared to some I’ve been trying that either don’t show up or are a bit dryier in formula.

Just noticed nude ~ wondering if that might be lighter?

Added it to my basket for my next shop.

Rimmel Brow Pro Microdefiner Precision Brow Pencil

boots.com/rimmel-brow-pro-micro-ultra-fine-precision-pencil

This was a bit wierd it looked like a felt tip. Then when I tried to rub it off it stuck there.

I thought it was going to be a pencil.

I liked the wand end.

Think I’ll combine in with the Rimmel pencil and work out a technique.

Quite like how it doesn’t smudge.

Think this is where you need to be artistic maybe.

Free Gift

Tried out these free gifts, the one that stood out was the revoloution highlighter

Revolution Highlight Reloaded

Product details

Are you ready for the ultimate glow-up with the Revolution Reloaded Highlighter collection?

An array of highlighter shades that will leave yoy with an irresistible glow. An intensely pigmented powder that will instantly brighten your complexion. A high-impact finish with a super-flattering shimmer. The silky formula glides onto cheekbones seamlessly, add to the bridge of the nose and illuminate the inner corners of the eyes for a pop of glow. For an intense, foil-like finish use with a damp brush or one of our Fixing Sprays.

boots.com/revolution-highlight-reloaded

Have to laugh as I wasn’t ready for this.

The glow is insane.

I’m quite heavy handed so I applied it like bronzer, also as I was playing around I hadn’t applied base so I think it would look better on a base rather than straight on my skin.

I think I would like to discover this brand as it is new to me and I saw an eyeshdow palette I liked on pinterest last night.

I definately need to practice with this product, but as my chin is such a problem to these people obsessed with vanity that are bullying women like me, highlighting is a good way to go, hopefully I have a few things going for me at least.

This Worked really well with the lip liner, just ordered the nude one.

Conclusion

This is where I’m at with makeup, feel a bit like a teenager again but having fun so that is all that counts I suppose.

Just purchased some more No7 and am going to try out some revoloution Makup.

I think if you get a free gift you are sort of expected to try more of what you like.

I need to restock my makeup quite badly, so it is actually helping me quite a lot and am enjoying the experience.

We watched Jonathan Creek last night and it has inspired me to have a pedicure.

Hope you are enjoying your Sunday after the horrible storm. I either feel frightened or upset when it is stormy, so feel a bit calmer now it has gone.

Decided to make a Makeup Journal as you have a journal at design college, so it is similar to art.

Then it helps you create a finished piece.
