Clarins free gift

Yesterday almost to my surprise, if I’m honest, my 1st Clarins makeup brushes arrived, plus the free gift and 1/2 of my last boots order.

Really pleased with how things are going back to normal after Covid.

Hope you are getting your product again now too.

Review of Clarins Foundation brushes

You can immediately tell this is a high-end product as each brush is packaged in three layers of plastic.

I’m not sure how I’m going to use or store these yet as it is new to me.

In fact, that is my decluttering project for today ~ decluttering my drawers so I can get what I have gone to the drawer for, rather than searching through the clutter.

I’ve bought them in preparation for the Halloween party and Makeup Saturday.

They do look like art brushes.

As I’m not very good at painting, I used to purchase certain art brushes that were easier to use, so wondered about discovering some similar type of makeup brushes.

I learnt to paint like a designer, I learnt a few tricks that created a 3d effect from the paper, but I wasn’t taught to paint like an artist.

We would build a wash up on the paper first which is like priming, so really like primer and get what it does. My favourite primers are Urban Decay, not managed to get that brand again yet. Will focus on that for makeup Saturday this week.

Foundation brushes are easy to use, but my last one retained the foundation when I washed it out, it is like painting a wash with the biggest brush you can find on your stretched cartridge paper or face. The bigger the brush in art, the faster the application. Apply smoothly. There is a technique here so the primer is flat.

Before I use the Clarins brushes, I’m trying to get some makeup brush cleaner so I don’t ruin the brushes with soap.

As they are so expensive, I plan to look after them properly, I guess you treat them like art brushes.

The makeup brushes I have already are a mixture, some aren’t very good quality, the ones that were good snapped in the soap solution, hence worrying about washing the clarins brushes in soap.

Proper makeup artists store their brushes in cases, this will protect the brush from getting damaged.

As I decided to buy them separately I ought to seek out some sort of brush case for the brushes, also it is easier to find them if they are in one place. Will have to remember how I stored my art brushes. This is an idea I will focus on Makeup Saturday.

Free Gift

This brought back memories of department store counters.

I used to get the Boots magazine delivered and it had little postcards inviting you to the counter that had a free gift.

Eventually I learned to stock up my stash when the free gift was on.

The Clarins gift is like the old pre-COVID days.

I tried out the serums and face creams last night.

Then these this morning

Thinking of getting into Clarins as the serums aren’t too runny and really easy to apply, I usually use a serum or a cream, but found I could use these together.

The fragrance is gorgeous.

Not sure how long you give it to work as they are just samples, but I’m not allergic and Clarins the name speaks for its quality really.

Really need the lip moisturiser so will try that today.

The mascara I will keep for my handbag as I use small handbags so as not to strain my shoulder, and found free samples great for handbags instead of carrying full-size product.

The free makeup bag

Love the Clarins red colour and need a new makeup bag so perfect.

Conclusion

If free gifts are coming back really worth watching for, as it is a brilliant way to try new product, you usually get something like a makeup or vanity case which are really useful and if you are spending a lot on a high end product you get more value for your money.

Think I might purchase the full-size products as they feel good on my skin.

Would guess it takes a few weeks to get a result.

Ordered some Lancome makeup brushes also, which is the other half of my order so let you know how I do.

Then need to get the next brushes for makeup Saturday.

If you are joining in with this it is going to be fairly slow and focussed as I always used to apply makeup like my mum taught me.

I’m new to this, so will have to study it.

It could end up quite expensive, so worth shopping around and taking advantage of free gifts.

Once I work it out I can recommend brushes obviously, but just loosing myself in the experience at the minute.

This is what I love also, makeup, fashion, jewellery hairstyles and so forth so it is where I like to spend my disposable income worked out for me by the nerd.

If you want to do this, but don’t want to spend a lot it is worth investing in a makeup brush roll/kit already stocked with all the brushes.

Will include this in next weeks makeup Saturday.

I’m being serious again, so maybe too serious for you and unnecessarily so, if you’re good at painting you can use any brush, to be honest, but I’m not so trying to remember what I learnt at art college.

You can take Makeup Saturday with a pinch of salt really, and gear it to what equipment you have already.

Hopefully in my seriousness, you will discover along with me.

I’m not doing this to sell anything, just to share what I learn and have some fun.

I suppose if someone purchases something it is sales by default, but you can get another brand or use what you have.

I started with foundation brushes as I hadn’t heard of them till before covid and following makeup tutorials, so guessed a lot of women might not have one either.

Hope you are enjoying your Sunday and start getting your orders of products, including fashion, turning up how you want them to be again soon!!!!
