Before COVID, I think I had given up on having any sort of life again. I’d suffered from a chronological illness weirdly brought on by the sun. As everyone started cussing covid I joined in and I think it became my Scapegoat to offload all my moany baggage. The good thing is, everyone agreed and you can cuss it as much as you want as everyone hates it.
I’m cured of my illness, but there wasn’t any aftercare, so I hadn’t realised I needed to start a sort of physio to get myself back to normal.
Where I started was with the Dors Diet and Paula Baldwins daily dozen.
That was a few years back now.
If you haven’t done exercise for years have Jane Fonda as your goal, but wait till your body is ready.
I did this every day for a year and it worked. Most people don’t exercise every day, so it does have an advantage. It gets your body flexible again. When you feel like it dip into some of the ten-minute Jane Fonda routines, whatever your age. Even when we are young I think we should start slowly and build up. We maintain our stamina then rather than being over-faced like poseur gyms tend to do. If you’re in peak health by next year who cares if you started slowly. I couldn’t care less about peer pressure ~ bitchy women needn’t know where you started anyway. Also, a lot of men prefer larger women to skinny ballerinas anyway. (discovered this on weekend TV). So if you just want to stay flexible and toned with good posture stay at this level. I highly recommend you do something though as I have discovered through quick fit ~ we need to look after our backs as we get older and it is our key to staying youthfully.
On days where you feel energetic I tried out the ten-minute Jane Routines.
This is great it actually looks slow but it does push you and give you a boost.
Loved this, Janes’s boyfriend is the singer.
You can even do both of them together.
You can do cardio every day. It is up to how you feel.
Always remember to do a cooldown after cardio.
Apparently some youths of today are laughing at this sort of exercise. To be honest I can tell the type, (like the knuckledragger in the hat in Janes low low-impact video), just ignore them. Most youngsters would see the point of this and would definitely try it. I used to supply teach P.E. quite a lot and they would have taken to someone like Paula seriously. I did and she has changed my life, really grateful I found this or I’d probably still be in a mess. If you have just found this and are overwhelmed by Jane Fondas July, I was too a few years back. I still can’t do all of it so are trying to customize it to my small space, but I can do the low impact and are both pleased and are really happy to share my findings with other women like myself, as I know how awful it feels to start again from not doing anything. One of the worst things is feeling there is no way back and exercise is just for pros. (Two weeks into Jane’s July I have a new discovery that will prepare you for when you get there).
I’m still nowhere near as fit as I used to be and have obviously aged a bit, so I’m pacing myself with caution.
Last year I had an accident as I was forced to try and learn ballroom dancing.
This year I found Rosemary Conley Salsasize and I’m doing fine. Picked it up really well as you go fast with easy steps and get in shape that way, rather than complicated moves that are hard to learn online at home.
This leads to the pioneer of exercising at home, Jane Fonda.
Jane Fonda invented the workout at-home video or DVD library.
This creation saved me when I had to leave an overpriced gym when we made cutbacks so we could set up our business.
I made much more progress with Rosemary Conley DVDs while I was still at the Gym, so knew it worked and could rely on in-home fitness.
The only thing I struggled to find was the gym routine at the end of cardio.
With Zsa Zsa Gabor and Jane, I have found it again.
Also, all the DVDs I chose have women who remind me of a ladies-only gym I used to go to before the poser gym, (that is what they used to call expensive mixed gyms).
I wouldn’t have left that as my friend Abida from school did the modern dance class too. It was really funny and the instructor allowed us to get the steps right before we went fast.
I gained weight after leaving there. I suppose the Poseur gym might of been better, I looked good from it, but I went from 8 stone to nine stone and I didn’t like that.
I enjoyed being slim and having fun. Think that was all I wanted and mainly to straighten my back.
The poseur gym made me lift medicine balls and jog on steep inclines. I could do it, even mastered the Roman chair, but I didn’t enjoy it and it didn’t make me slim. It created a sort of busty look.
If you have just found this, you will get your results faster than I did as I have found the way to do it.
Easy Entry Level into Janes July
I started here.
Then moved onto 1 mile walk in March
2 miles and quick fit in April
The Quick fit Aerobics and cooldown to get you fit again quickly ~ works!!!
Then 3 Miles in May
Once you achieve this Lesley tells you, you are a pro, which is a relief as you can start building your video library and do whatever you want!!!
At this point I added Zsa Zsa Gabor it’s simple Darling.
I do this 3 times a week with a day off in between to rest your muscles. I might add more moves as this goes along, but at the moment I’m just sticking with this as it is manageable and I keep to it. Also, I can’t find advice on what exercise to do for age, so happy to recommend this safely to women in their home gyms.
Do it for 3 days, then have 3 spa days while your muscles rest.
You could actually start Janes July just with Zsa Zsa Gabor and 1 walk a week. I did this version also ~ love it!!!
If you aren’t ready for Jane’s July all the videos will go in slim cal overflow, so you can try again when you feel ready or wait till next year. I haven’t chosen any advanced classes as I avoided them at the ladies’ gym.
Supplements and Equipment
I highly recommend the supplements if you are just starting out, as well as the Argos 1 KG weights and yoga mat.
I managed to get all this, so if you are struggling to get this sort of stuff, try again for Jane’s July ~ you should be O.K. this time!!!!
Conclusion
If you are new to this way of exercising there aren’t really any rules and we have to be our own guides.
If you try something too hard ~ just go back to what you were doing before and keep going.
It is better if you are consistent, but we have to push ourselves a bit each month if we want results.
I used to create a workout plan from my video library each month and just stick with that routine till the next month ~ then do a new one.
Always remember to warm up ~ exercise then cool down.
I’m starting to collect my favourite videos in Slim Cal Overflow. What you can do is save them to your playlists in Youtube for your own easy access. Then devise your own routines that suit your own needs.
Also, collage video loads up new videos all the time, so if you follow them you can collect your favourite levels from there. Just subscribe.
Have to say again, I’m not a fitness expert, just an average woman at home trying to keep fit and healthy in a post-COVID world that isn’t back on track with fitness yet. It does seem to be slowly turning though.
All the videos for Janes July are loading up in the slimming calendar ~ just save your faves!!!
Hope this helps.
