Sunday shop/Victorian Party weekend

Arrived at the conclusion you can’t do a WW2 party. Not sure why people have been celebrating World War 2, but now I have studied it, I have proved why you can’t do a WW2 party.

At the end of World War 2, most survivors were conspiracy theorists with all kinds of theories. Watching the data I collated for a possibility there was an ounce of celebration, I realised where their theories came from.

As I’m a party blogger and lifestyle blogger it isn’t really something I want to take further. I wasn’t brought up to be political so I’m not trained to take on such a task.

I’m only doing the calendar for a year and I have enough material to make parties for each month without upsetting people.

I think it is right we remember what the people went through for us, but also discovered most of them actually wanted to forget what they went through and actually mentally blocked it out.

On a spiritual level, you can only hope for them there is a universal salvation and justification for them.

Sunday day out

Not going out this week as ill and it is raining today so decided to have my own party on both nights. Put a lot of work into the Victorian Party and feel I’ve earned a celebration after a month’s hard work of slimming and fitness.

For some unknown reason, I’ve lost weight after going back to drinking. Think it is also the fact I upped my fitness levels and hill walked.

I actually finally managed a goal I have been resetting and not achieving ~ achieved it this month. It is only one pound but breaking that plateau feels so good!!! This is why I have to leave the slimming calendar there as plateaus take a long time for women to break due to our physical makeup. The Slimming calendar is another tool to turn to for support when it gets hard. I use it myself also so if nothing else I plan to keep using it.

After this end-of-month rest and celebration ~ need to get on with next month’s fitness and slimming goal.

Really hope you are achieving your slimming and fitness goals, if it makes us happy we should do it and keep doing it!!!

Saturday Night Perfume Junky

Decided to do perfume Junky and have a few drinks at the Victorian Party. Perfume Junky has evolved into its own thing now, to be used as the user wants lol!! it does work if you are detoxing though.

I’m a perfume addict whether I’m drinking or not.

Penhaligans perfume profiling

What I bought last night

pinterest.co.uk/saphireblack/perfume-junky-archive/victorian-perfume-junky

Got back into Etsy ~ and forgot I had an account.

Bought some downloadable flower prints and found some furniture painting products I’d forgotten about. Tried to get them years ago. Also some dresses like Jaqui Mcshee. Next year will be quite fun if I receive all the stuff I purchased. Looking forward to that.

I painted some furniture before and quite enjoyed it. Also, I get the fashion looks now I’ve seen them on Jaqui Mcshee.

What I watched Last night

Opted for this concert last night as I haven’t seen it before, wasn’t disappointed ~ really enjoyed it.

Review of Steeleye Span gig

Have to say it looked just like my sort of gig. It was like going back in time to a medieval banquet. I really liked the princess scene in the floating dress and the dancing at the end.

You can still go for a day out at Penshurst Place & Gardens, where the concert was filmed. Put it in Saphires travel agency as another to-do day out or weekend mini break.

The House

Penshurst Place & Gardens and the surrounding estate have stood in the historic village of Penshurst since the 14th century, when the awe-inspiring medieval Baron’s Hall was completed in 1341 as a country retreat for the Lord Mayor of London. The Baron’s Hall, crowned by an original 60ft high chestnut beamed ceiling is an unmissable sight for visitors to the ancestral home of the Sidney family who have taken care of the estate since 1552.

The stately home and gardens were once used as a hunting lodge for King Henry VIII, and now feature opulent staterooms that have been showcased in popular TV and film productions. The Solar, Queen Elizabeth Room and Long Gallery to name but a few, contain a collection of beautiful family portraits from across the centuries, antique furniture, skilfully crafted tapestries and much, much more.

Visitors can enjoy a stroll around the historic home of the Sidney family for just a £2 upgrade from our standard gardens ticket.

Where the concert was filmed

Love days out like this, hopefully soon!!!

Hopefully it will become a blog or lots of blogs, mind you it probably already is blogged a million times, but I want to blog it as well lol!!!

Have been to Orpington, but not as far down as Tonbridge. I would quite like to discover the coastal areas further south.

Campervan holiday in Britain. If we went down that far might as well make a holiday out of it.

You could stop off at the hall on the way or on the way back home.

Exciting!!!!

James Last review

Watched him last night on Star Parade, where he rightly won a gold disc, and will be watching him again tonight at Victorian night concerts. Hope to get the harp in as well if I have time.

We Love James’ last concerts, really glad he is on the Victorian night.

Also watched Hammer House of Horror and Top of the Pops on Weekend TV ~ brilliant.

Sunday Film choice

We are watching:

Never seen this, so couldn’t recommend it this year. Looking forward to watching it tonight.

Also looking forward to receiving ~Barbara Shelley’s fashion look from this film. The dresses look gorgeous. Hope we all get some for next year!!!!

Might recommend this film next year after watching it this year.

Victorian Food

Last night we had some Victorian pickles as party snacks after our Mcdonalds.

Mixed Pickle in a Mild & Tangy Vinegar

1 of 5 a Day**80g drained = 1 of your 5 a day*Typically 1 Portion Size = 3 Heaped Tablespoons

These tasted gorgeous and there are hardly any calories in them like olives.

They went really well with gin and slimline tonic.

Put some of the sliced gherkins in my quorn sandwich for lunch and it was really nice.

Hopefully will get these every weekend now or until we need a new jar.

Especially liked the pickled cauliflower.

for party snacks, they look nice presented in a bowl with cocktail sticks so you can pick them up easily.

Sunday Fayre

Tonight we are having chicken roast dinner with Aunt Bessies Yorkshire puddings, mixed vegetables and bisto gravy ~ we couldn’t get potatoes so I suppose you just have to manage the best you can. For dessert we are having fresh cream trifle from the co ~op, followed by de caff coffee and an Elizabeth Shaw mint chocolate. We couldn’t get Bendicks.

They look really nice.

Conclusion

Hope if you discovered the Victorian party you have found something to take away from it.

Wondering if other people are as surprised about how Victorian times actually were. History paints a bit of a dark picture, but there is actually more prettiness and interest than in post covid Britain.

I think there are a lot of free or not very expensive ideas also. I hated the keeping up with the Jones era of late. Where we live it became a competition of who was spending more on their houses and cars, I retaliated by painting our door number in purple chalk on our wall and letting our garden overgrow.

Finding Victorian times, and listening to people who have survived the Jones era. Maybe we can all enjoy a more fullfilled life by actually spending less money. As I’m a perfume junky it sounds hypocritical, but it is from all the money I saved while others were getting in debt on credit.

I know what I mean though and hope you get where I’m coming from.

The Shillingbury Tales on weekend tv point out just throwing money at a project isn’t actually being creative.

Think I will leave it here as I’m starting to rattle on lol!!!

Enjoy tonight if anything appeals to you.

Will be doing online parties till things get better so if your ever at a loose end you know where to find me and my contribution to fun.

Enjoy your Sunday!!!
