Sunday day out/Northern dieting in the 80’s/learning to live life with a natural balance

Spring is in the air!!!

The snowdrops are back and a little sun made it through the drizzle and drab British sky.

Took some snowdrop photographs.

Suppose they are a bit like the nature table at school, but you’re allowed indulgences these days. Mine is doing kits and projects like at infant school and collecting memories that make me happy or have made me happy in the past.

Maybe it is healthy as children to have a joyous vision of life that we sometimes forget as stressed overworked adults.

Started this project before my fat challenge project.

Went for back therapy and ended up with all sorts of therapy from amateur art to being told I would right a lot of wrongs.

Think the therapist may have been a good witch as I saw a framed photo of her on her landing standing in a large circle with everyone holding hands in Whitby on a cliff edge.

She was really nice anyway.

Still, have my projects somewhere.

Highly recommend collecting happy photos of places that made or make you happy. Some of the places have changed now so have a little record of them. I used to store it in a hand-painted pine effect dressing table. Then inhale bergamont or grapefruit essential oil when I looked at them.

Being ill and on a fat challenge has made me forget about it, but now I’ve started living again, would like to restart this project.

It wasn’t very good, but it is personal anyway so it doesn’t really matter.

If you do things that are good they aren’t often what you want to do anyway.

Victoria Wood

Victoria Wood is very British and I almost feel like apologising for putting her program on weekend TV choices.

Have to be honest and admit to cringing a few times during this piece.

At the same time, it does have some wisdom in it, even though it is in your face and a bit honest.

In the new global world, this would be branded fat shaming possibly?

Mainly the taxi driver at the end telling her she would get fat eating chocolates.

Not sure why they have a girl’s night out at an all-males salesman conference either?

Wondering if the cleaner in the toilet was telling obscene jokes also, I don’t really get them so can’t say.

Fat Challenge

A few years back I was one of the women that had to do a fat challenge, hence the weight gain of ten stone.

Have to be honest I’ve always either been slim or with an eating disorder. Putting the weight on from food as opposed to social enjoyment weight actually helped me.

From now on will slim when it is boring, but have some fun on holiday, the end of the month or if invited to a party and so forth.

Favorite food I discovered whilst putting the weight on

I must be honest and say chocolate boxes aren’t as good as they used to be. The soft centres haven’t enough variety and there are too many nut and toffee chocolates.

Discovered I like Vindaloo which was popular in the 70s as Jerry snuck one in when Margo was with Miss Mountshaft at the pony club. Found out today that this surprised people that I liked it as it is so strong. Think it is gorgeous.

Definitely love pepperoni Pizza.

Will be eating fish and chips if I go to Brighton in the campervan. It is a British traditional seaside food. There is a whole selection of food available. Love seafood served in little trays with vinegar, which is actually healthy, have to say I never liked waffles when I was little made me feel sickly and I can’t tolerate ice cream as I have a milk intolerance. Strangely enough I can have cream – (have a book explaining this will write it up if I ever get the chance to). Possibly something to do with cows like nuts in May.

If I eat too many cream buns my mouth sort of stops eating and rejects it. Think when a pink iced cream bun dropped out of my mouth onto the plate and I started crying was the time I switched to salad.

Just eating something nice occasionally is called living, which I intend to do more of.

I’m just naturally not a big eater, so the challenge was completed I was then allowed to lose weight.

Once a month weekend off

With the fat challenge experience in mind, I have added the idea of one weekend off per month. On one day I will do a low-calorie option, then on the other day have whatever I want – such as fish and chips, steak and chips, a slice of cake a restaurant dinner, etc. accompanied with some good wine. Pondering whether to do a low-fat drink on one day, but lost track of dry January. Not sure if you’re supposed to stop drinking altogether?

Really looking forward to food coming back as I would eat Indian mid-week as well. If my journey with food and slimming appeals to you, the 80’s weekend is doing really well, put the 80’s alcohol adverts into weekend TV so you can start building your drinks cabinet if you want.

Also found some 80s perfumes and put the adverts in the same place, trying to purchase those.

If you’re a bit bored for something to do or struggle to purchase alcohol at the moment, found a link to a warehouse in Callais that stocks a lot of the 80’s alcohol. Haven’t been there myself yet so not sure what it is like.

calaiswine.co.uk/piat-d-or-red

The link above leads to Callais wine, sounds like a good day or weekend out, a great place to stop off in the campervan lol!!!, could get some French cheese and sausage also. Really good foody excursion.

If we ever get to Brighton will do a British seaside day off.

Conclusion

What might shock people from the past may not be that bad after you think about it. Most things were worse in the past as life evolves. Really hope I haven’t offended anyone at the same time you have to realise our ancestors lived in these times and it was all acceptable back then. Guess we need to adapt to the new global world but Britain needs to hold on to its heritage as this is who we are and it is our myth.

So glad spring is here and really looking forward to summer.

Will launch the 80’s weekend nearer the time.

Enjoy Spring!!!!
