These are survival ideas if you still struggle with food at your supermarket or have oven troubles; our grill has broken now so even having to rethink this idea.
I can’t bake here but I can’t digest rich christmas food anyway.
A model once recommended sugar fruits on a daytime tv program for a christmas treat alternative and I used to get them, think they were called Dewberry Fruits.

There are a few jelly fruit brands when you start looking, people sometimes put them on cakes; the ones that looked like fruit slices.
These were a traditional English Christmas Treat, also low calorie and easy to digest.
Quite liked Marzipan Fruits also.
I now store all the food and drink ideas in Homemaker Tips.
Option one

We opt for chicken instead of Turkey due to our living conditions and the fact we don’t like turkey.

We have melon as starter now, discovered that in Hawaiin Christmas.
Not sure we can fit stuffing in the oven this year.
We already have the Black Forest Gateau.
Need to get the chicken, vegetables, potatoes, Port and Stilton.
Got the Bendicks and Grand Marnier, but need to stock up the wine cellar.
Foody Snob or not Bothered?
Have to say my mum bought this fancy chestnut stuffing one year and it was awful.
If I do stuffing I prefer simple sage and onion.
If I didn’t live here I’d enjoy making it myself but I’m really happy with paxo if I made it myself that would be what I was aiming for anyway.
I still use bisto gravy.
And we will be having Aunt Bessies Yorkshire Puddings and Sainsbury’s Roast Potatoes.
I’m possibly not the right person to be doing this, but then again I wonder if a lot of other people feel like this too.
I was brought up making proper yorkshire puddings so I can actually cook.
Forgot that like sewing skills.
We cooked a lot of stuff in lard though which is really unhealthy.
I cook everything in olive oil now or you can fry with vegetable oil ~ haven’t fried anything since our extractor fan went.
Review
This is a really humble idea but digestable and do – able.
I think some women and chefs are lucky enough to have massive kitchens ovens and fridge freezers.
Our house is illegally built so the kitchen isn’t big enough to cook in.
If you live in an open plan flat, these aren’t designed to cook in.
I think this idea is actually of use to people in these kind of conditions.
We enjoyed it anyway.
n.b.
Have to admit to using Aunt Bessies and Bisto before covid.
It also saves money and spins your money out over christmas.
Option 2

I thought this up because of food shortages since Covid Christmas ~ luckily we opted for ready meals so we had something at least, but I was still really upset for people as Christmas obviously meant more to them than me, ~ that is why I’m not allowed to go out because I care and get upset.
A lot of people have started having Pizza for Christmas Dinner for some reason.
I gave it an Hawaiian theme as found a few Hawaiian TV ideas and it makes people in cold countries feel warm.
This idea makes it more like a Dinner.
You need famous names liqueres for this option.

We have Pizza in the freezer, might get Hawaiin as well.
You could vary this idea say an Italian Christmas with Pepperoni Pizza.
Not sure when Dominoes is open over christmas but we did that one year and had cold pizza for boxing day I think?
If it tastes nice and it is a treat who cares?
I quite like sprouts, but wonder if that is why some people have pizza instead now.
General Guidelines:
- Christmas Eve (Dec 24th): Expect limited hours, often closing earlier than usual, so check online.
- Christmas Day (Dec 25th): This is the biggest variable; some stores operate with reduced hours (e.g., 12pm-12am in the UK), while many remain closed, according to Parade.com.
- Boxing Day (Dec 26th): Most stores will likely be open, but with potentially altered hours.
Dominoes is an option but you would need to back that up with a frozen pizza as seems a bit uncertain?
Then serve with Cinzano and defrost some Italian dessert from the freezer or Tiramasu.

I’d prefer Christmas Dinner but one of my favourite desserts is Tiramasu and would prefer that to Christmas cake or Pudding.
Just noticed they have trifle ~ think we will get that for boxing day.
Boxing Day Buffet
We are just doing buffet food on Boxing day with left over chicken or turkey, then either 70’s or 80’s food.

Will get this trifle from Tesco and any buns and so forth the nerd wants.

Quite like simple desserts made in the traditional way ~ some of the new sugary ones don’t agree with me unfortunately.
When I was little I might of looked like the grinch as I was always pulling a face from being ill on sugary cakes, buns and so forth.
Conclusion
Neither of us have a sweet tooth so like a bit of dessert but not too much.
If you haven’t much of a kitchen and are still struggling to get food, this is how we are copying and what we are doing.
I like cooking now and again and cook at weekends but in general I’m not bothered.
I think I eat to survive type thing.
My mum used to nag me about it as she is more old fashioned.
Well if life ever goes back to normal might do some cooking again.
Hope these ideas are of use.
