Movie of the week

A Woman’s Face is a 1941 American drama film noir directed by George Cukor and starring Joan Crawford, Melvyn Douglas and Conrad Veidt. It tells the story of Anna Holm, a facially disfigured blackmailer, who, because of her appearance, despises everyone she encounters.
(Searched for this film for years and finally found it. They used to show these sort of films in the afternoon or Sundays I think.)

( If you are looking for inspiration I store what I choose in fashion calendar shop ~ it is really hard at the moment if you are 5ft 4 ~ 5ft 5. I review what I receive then do a little fashion show on Instagram of what I sift out of my purchases. Hopefully it will go back to normal soon ~ everything used to fit in George and at bargain prices.)

This is a new episode to last year.

Lucy Harbin spends 20 years in a psychiatric hospital after killing her husband and his mistress. After release, she lives with her daughter Carol, who witnessed the murders as a child.
Highly recommend this film~ watch it and see what you think.

Chaney plays an armless circus performer who loves his performing partner (Crawford) but she is reluctant to love any man. A classic Chaney horror film. Music is from the you tube library and Incompetech.

In Rod Serling’s tale of corporate greed, when a young man is recruited onto the board of a high-powered corporation, he finds his ethics at odds with his ambition.
I don’t think Joan Crawford is in this, but it is stored for this week so loaded it up.

Sorry if you are slimming, I fancy the fish and chips.
(We are trying to get low calorie frozen battered fish then serving with diet chips, peas, beans and broccoli.)
Don’t usually have that so will be a treat.
You can get Tartar sauce or salt and vinegar to go with it.
bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/quicktartaresauce
Or Mcdonalds Fillet of fish for a weekend treat off slimming.
Yes, Waldorf salad can go with fish and chips, though it’s not a traditional pairing. While Waldorf salad’s sweet and savory flavors, along with its creamy, mayonnaise-based dressing, might clash with the strong flavors of traditional fish and chips, some people do enjoy it as a side dish, especially if the fish isn’t heavily sauced. A lighter, less creamy version of Waldorf salad could also be a better fit, as it balances the rich, fried dish with a refreshing element.
You can get it pre made.

(Have to be honest I’d do salmon or trout if I didn’t live here, the kitchen is too small to cook properly and the extractor fan is broken. ~ Quite enjoyed learning how to cook these. Salmon used to be an expensive fish ~ hope it comes back.)
Not sure what my thinking was last year
But you can have waldorf salad and aperitif to start
Then the fish course and wine to follow.
You can add more to this idea if you aren’t slimming.
There is the makings of an end of month Party here ~ think I’ll try and remember it for the November Fancy Dress Party.
You could really impress your guests with this.
We just got Frozen fish and chips due to covid conditions and our extractor fan.
Mateus goes with fish and chips also.

Will be fun anyway.

A wealthy women falls for an ambitious violinist, but their love affair may be more than she can afford.

S03E03 – Dick Turpin’s Greatest Adventure part 3

Conclusion
Hope you enjoy the menu, it is a bit different and like going back in time.
Add your Champagne or Babycham or Mateus goes nice with fish and chips also.
Hope you enjoy Joan Crawford Weekend.
Next week is Roman Polanski Weekend.
Enjoy!!!
