Before covid I had certain shops I could go to where the trousers fitted me.
During Covid trousers have gone unstandardised; sizings are random with no pattern and aren’t accurate with true measurements.
That said it finally seems to be going back to normal.
Trouser Collection Assessment
As I luckily discovered Ponte leggings thought it was time to declutter the mis sold ones I purchased during covid.
Also have some thinner leggings in size 14 that fit now I’ve slimmed down to size 8, think these may have gone now.
Hope they come back with standardised sizings.
Declutter Guideline
For some reason during covid we were mis sold legging lengths?
If you hoarded these during covid, but now have aquired trousers that fit it is worth doing a trouser declutter.
If the style of the jean or legging doesn’t fit where it is supposed to on your waist, it is probably because it fits someone 5ft3 or under on their waist, this is not actually a problem if they were actually sold as petite, but also in all the other sizes.
The first thing I threw out was some petite jeans that only came to my hips.
Next I threw:
Waist Trainer petite Leggings mis sold as Regular leggings.
These are really dangerous as they were hip trainers on me and I had an accident.
Threw 2 pairs of these out.
Next I threw:
New trousers that are still no use.

I ordered 1 pair size 8r and one pair size 10 r, to see if they fitted before ordering more.
Unfortunately someone mixed the order up and I got sent a truckload. TU apologised and said just to keep them for free. After trying them on you can’t help wondering if they were glad to get rid of them.
The size 10 regular where massive.
The size 8 regular were tight round my knees. When I walked in them they went tight round my waist forcing me to hunch forward.
As I need to build my skinny legs up these really are no good.
The next thought is will they fit if I loose more weight?, but then I’m not supposed to slim down anymore.
Also
The trousers were half mast; they were more than an inch above where you would expect your trouser bottoms to be.
Obviously I’m hoping to grow upwards 1/2 an inch so they would be even shorter then.
These are obviously petite tapered trousers not regular tapered trousers.
I threw both these pairs away and am going to throw the free ones away also.
This is a waste but TU didn’t want them returning.
As we aren’t supposed to waste things anymore this is a bit hypocritical.
If we aren’t meant to waste things shouldn’t standardised fittings come back?
I would rather just purchase what I need that fits properly than waste fabric and money.

Found a pair of these in storage.
They aren’t on sale anymore
Think it is these anyway.
Mine have pockets and are high waisted in size 12R.
They are now baggy round my thighs and ankles.
Not sure I was size 12 when I purchased them.
Will keep these for sitting round the house, but wouldn’t go out in them.

Tried these on again and thought they looked allright.
They don’t sell them anymore.
Repeat Trouser Buying
Repeat purchasing is agreat way to make fashion purchasing stress free.
You need to make note of what the trouser or garment you like is called.
If standardised fittings come back you will be the same size in every shop which is even more stress free.
Trousers were always hard work before I worked out this technique ~ learnt it off the nerd.
Conclusion
I’m a good customer as I repeat purchase.
Obviously it is not TUs fault as they were standard sizes before covid.
How a pandemic has affected fashion I don’t know ~ it doesn’t make sense.
I’m happy with my Ponte Leggings now anyway.
You can dress them up for smart occassions as well as for exercise, so saving some for best.
They are quite thick fabric so I probably would wear them to go out.
Decluttering trousers is a really good idea as they can take up too much storage and become a bit of a headache when you have to face tidying them.
Jeans tend to come in so many styles and fittings that when you finally find some that fit you, it is a good idea to remember the product name for when you need to repeat purchase.
Even if standardised fittings do come back you need to work out your body type first and which style suits your individual body type.
I’m happy to plough on with this in hope of finding more styles that are standardised fit.
I store the good ones in Star Fashion on pinterest.
It has proved really useful for repeat purchasing in the covid mis sold trouser wilderness of 2025.
Hope you enjoyed this blog.
