Film FASHION/THE OTHER Boleyn GIRL/the legacy

I loaded this onto WordPress TV, wondering if it might be too highbrow for me to understand, but presumed it would be good and someone highbrow might enjoy it.

Was really pleased to find I both understood it and really enjoyed it.

The actors were like paintings come to life.

As I’m English I love English history so loved the costumes, interiors and our rich historical heritage.

The Other Boleyn Girl (2008 film)

Production

Much of the filming took place in Kent, England, though Hever Castle was not used, despite being the original household of Thomas Boleyn and family from 1505 to 1539. The Baron’s Hall at Penshurst Place featured, as did Dover Castle, which stood in for the Tower of London in the film, and Knole House in Sevenoaks was used in several scenes.[8][9] The home of the Boleyns was represented by Great Chalfield Manor in Wiltshire, and other scenes were filmed at locations in Derbyshire, including Cave DaleHaddon HallDovedale and North Lees Hall near Hathersage.

We grew up going for days out to Tudor Mansions and Stately Homes.

By Daderot – Own work, Public Domain

This Manor House was used in the film, we have been there.

It has a medieval banquet hall.

Used to love going to places like this, fuels creative imaginations!!!

Finally found a stately home/manor house that doesn’t do weddings so you could actually visit this for a day out and design inspiration.

Couldn’t resist looking at Tudor Paintings of our Royal family in Tudor Times.

I used to watch fake or fortune about Antique paintings and if I remember rightly Tudor paintings weren’t as accurate as now, When Henry was younger, maybe there were even less accurate.

This is possibly an attempt to get a more accurate image of young Henry.

This looks like the actor who plays King Henry in the other Boleyn Girl.

Eric Bana, playing Henry Tudor

Brilliantly played by all the actors in mho.

Anne Boleyn Tudor Painting

I actually love this era and style of painting.

The proportion of Anne’s face possibly isn’t right I suppose.

I’m not an artist anyway so I like it.

Artists are rude about my art, but at least I sold it, some artists can’t sell there work.

I like how they are so dark and wonder if it was where I got my love for jewellery.

Reminds me of Vivienne Westwood Jewellery

Her story is quite dark, but also fascinating and addictive.

I found a seller on the net selling replica Tudor jewellery.

theenchantedtudorrose.co.uk/ourshopTudor-Costume-Jewellery

It is all a bit grand for me, but fun to browse.

It says it is for reinactments, I suggested this type of idea on slimming calendar, I think it looks fun,

(Can’t find it on pinterest ~ it has the horrible World War 2 Character faces on it now ~ frightening place, think I might have to move everything onto my other media platforms, it is just working out how to do it as there is so much).

We went to one at history class at school, coincidently it was 16th century, we cooked chicken in the actual kitchen of the Hall and lived like we were from that era, then I chose to do sketching.

Was a really enjoyable day, wish I’d got into that teachers class looking back rather than the rubbish teacher I got.

16th Century Costume

We did this look as we would of been this level of 16th century person.

century. The 16th century was the century from 1501 to 1600. In this century, many Europeans visited or moved to the newly-found Americas and some also searched for new routes to Asia. There was much change in Europe at the time, such as the Protestant Reformation and the Renaissance.

Found this on their instagram, I’d wear it as statement jewellery with a lbd and heels.

I quite like this one as you could do monochrome.

Monochrome Chic: Black and White.

I suppose if it is a costume reinactment you could be a Tudor lady.

This reminds me of the Legacy Film.

Wow just found this one ~ really similar.

This is stunning and worn with a black velvet dress.

Have opted for the one below.

I’ve just ordered one as they make them by hand, but think I will then order more.

This is really pretty colours.

Will put the link if you want to order it too, or you could browse the whole site.

You wear this one with a pale blue gown.

(not sure where you get that from as they are either oversized or undersized at the moment).

Really enjoyed this shop.

If you like this sort of jewellery worth a browse, it is really fairly priced for what it is also.

Conclusion

Highly recommend the film the Other Boleyn Girl, it is easy to understand and think there is a similar film from the 70’s about the Boleyn sisters.

The legacy film is obviously from Tudor Times and reading up on the legacy film location there could be a mystery solve from these two films.

They are both in Week 3 at the link below if you are interested in this film and story connection.

If you like costume jewellery you may find something of interest at Tudor Rose jewellery.

Feel really inspired to do design work again now.

Hope this inspires you to be creative too or gives you some fashion inspiration in post covid nothingness fashion times.

Enjoy your weekend.
