WEEKEND TV/MARCH/WEEK 4

The 60’s Party is next weekend 29/30th March

These are the 60’s alcohol options.

I think most people opted for chicken and chips in the 60’s, we have been doing this option as it is available during post covid.

Or You could do fish and chips and Champagne like in the Entertainer.

Ripping Yarns starts this week

Ripping Yarns is a British television adventure comedy anthology series. It was written by Michael Palin and Terry Jones of Monty Python fame and transmitted on BBC 2. Following an initial pilot episode in January 1976, it ran for two series — five episodes in September and October 1977 and three episodes in October 1979. Each episode had a different setting and characters, looking at a different aspect of British culture and parodying pre-World War II literature aimed at schoolboys. In the title, “ripping” is a chiefly British slang colloquialism for “exciting” or “thrilling”, with “yarn” used in the sense of a story.

Saturday

We have been trying these out every Saturday for a few weeks and we highly recommend them.

You may remember them and they have come back.

I’m not a wine expert and discovered I like drinkable wine.

You can drink them on their own and they aren’t too strong.

We get ours from Sainsbury’s but they look to be available at a lot of supermarkets.

Just look for Hock, Reisling or Libefraumilch.

Worth a try if you are looking for something different.

They feature more seriously in the focussed weekends.

If you start now you will be an expert at pairing them with food when the serious foody weekends turn up later this year.

I’m not a sales rep and don’t make money just trying to share the joy in a joy deprived 2026.

Enjoy!!!

(It makes our Saturday nights and we love these wines.)

Review

I liked every song, wasn’t that bothered about the adverts, but they were quite short unlike the ones on radio one and two. Also it made me feel tuned into the world again.

To be fair to Boom radio the sponsers pay for this radio staion to be there for us.

There weren’t any repeat promotions of irratating songs either.

Also quite like how they store up recordings.

None of this is my generation, but I’ve been to pubs and clubs that played this stuff so it is more peoples memories and generations than they might realise.
