MAKEUP SATURDAY/ELIZABETH TAYLOR/CLEOPATRA/the importance of aesthetics to everyone

This hairstyle was a massive influence in the 60’s and 70’s

Cleopatra inspired hairstyle Ken Loach, up the Junction.

It isn’t exactly the same, but very similar, the black eyeliner is obviously inspired by Cleopatra also.

As a woman with black hair and pale skin, these sort of hairstyle, makeup and fashion idea choices just aren’t there at the minute.

Coincidently as a teenager at Art college I did the Cleopatra look off old record sleeves and magazine articles not realising it went back to the 50’s.

I don’t really do that look now, but I had massive double cat eyes and loved it.

Been studying films for a while now and how they used to inspire each other but also create fashion and culture.

It is interesting piecing the Elizabeth Taylor influence together as it is so far reaching it inspired women who didn’t even realised they were influenced by Elizabeth Taylor.

I’m not political, a scholar or a great thinker.

These people are the most important leaders and come first.

But fashion and the arts are an essential element of human life in mho.

Now it is being filtered away and someone is trying to replace it with shoddy unaesthetic gloop, I think even people who hate fashion and culture are realising its importance.

If anything this is a blog that epitomises my study during the pandemic and the introduction of artisan art, remaking films that don’t need remaking, the silencing of music and art, the New World order that no one wants.

(The film mentioned here runs on Weekend TV this weekend.

It is called, ‘a Twisted nerve’).

Here we discovered that people with mental health were used as artisan artists to replace proper sane artists and thus the eradication of aesthetics.

Real artists got pushed away by putting the dealers commission up more and more until 75% was just not feasable.

Artisan unfortunately is still there and these are the only types of peoples in shops and restaurants and so forth, they are willing to not make profit.

I’m not against mental health in fact the opposite, so much so, they should be in care, not wondering the streets aimlessly like zombies and working like horses to create art and fashion and makeup no one wants.

This makeup blog leads to another makeup blog which is obviously not really important, but is important if you love design as it clothes us all and surrounds us in our homes and daily life.

The Massive Inspiration from Cleopatra

This is the spoof version of Cleopatra and how Carry on Films started out, by spoofing classic films of the time.

Will do this makeup blog next week.

As it was such a popular look, I wonder if Biba created this look for blondes.

I found this photo when I started studying Fashion, makeup and the inspiration from films and TV.

Now it makes sense.

I find this look really exciting, the turqouise adds the Egyptian feel to blonde makeup and the orange lip has been blended to suit blondes.

I love this eyeshadow effect.

This is what I was drawn to the first time I watched the film.

This is obviously a really hard look to pull off.

Also the 60’s video said don’t attempt black eyebrows unless you have black hair.

The eyeshadow must complement her unique eye colour.

I’d definately try this, but would change the eyebrows.

You could do this look now if you could get the product.

I used to do green glitter but it didn’t suit me.

I think most women just opted for blue eyeshadow, maybe they couldn’t get the glitter.

Elizabeth Taylor is obviously a screen legend chosen for her beauty, whilst some of us aren’t screen legends and have to be more careful.

I’d try the look I used to do that was inspired by an assistant at Mac, before it switched to assistants with tattoos and the disney thing?

Also the assistant in the budget makeup shop used to do glitter on her eyelids.

This blue matches her eyes.

I think this photo sums the film up to me as the music is so mysterious and it feels warm and you can imagine the fragrance from the Egyptian flowers and trees in the evening air. Also a lot of the film is from inside Cleopatras palace so it is quite moody.

These vintage eyeshadow adverts are obviously inspired by Cleopatra

If you are like me you must be craving the return of aesthetics in advertising. Also the reintroduction of makeup colours for brunettes and black haired women.

Blue seems to be making a comeback as I have a few new palettes.

Maybe the silver is to create the silver eyelid?

This one isn’t quite Cleopatra blue ~ have seen this vintage look somewhere though.

I think the Cleopatra look is summer due to the pink lipstick.

Not sure where you get pink lipstick from as no one makes it anymore.

Conclusion

Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra is stunning.

She can pull off a lot of hard fashion and makeup looks because she is an iconic screen legend.

If we try out some of these makeup looks we can all do them, but may need to adjust them to suit our own individual face shapes and colourings.

If you are stuck for entertainment at the moment like we are, I highly recommend Cleopatra.

The budget for the film was really expensive, so not only is it a good film with exciting film makeup, it is also a treat to watch all the aesthetics and the grandness in set design and costume that was made for the enjoyment of the viewer.

I love the music as well.

This was one of the first You Tube films I purchased, watched it a few times now and are very pleased with my purchase.

Also found a free version on daily motion.

Hope you enjoyed this blog and enjoy watching the film, as there is a free version makes sense to watch that one.

It is four hours long so I watch it over a few days.

Really relaxing also after a hard work out.

Enjoy your Saturday

n.b. ~ I don’t get paid to sell you tube films, I find it to be a really good and easy service to use. My you tube library has enabled me to clear a drinks cabinet out that was storing dvds and now it stores drinks again lol!!!

I just buy one film now and again as a treat, then it is there when I want a film to watch mainly when I’m not working on social media.

Amazon films are great too.

With You tube films I always remember to click the like button.
