The Original Marketing Film
Marketing
White Diamonds was accompanied by a US$20 million advertising campaign, which included a national tour of department stores by Taylor (beginning September 12, 1991), magazine advertisements, and, most notably, use of a short film.
Commercial
White Diamonds was marketed with a short film starring Taylor titled White Diamonds Starring Elizabeth Taylor. The full film, with a duration of 2 minutes and 45 seconds, was screened in department stores, which served popcorn to customers to enhance the theatrical effect. It was also played in movie theatres before pre-show trailers. A 60-second cut was shown as a television commercial.(1)

I definately prefer this bottle.
I wonder if it is perfume?
White Diamonds is a perfume created in 1991 by British-American actress Elizabeth Taylor. The perfume, advertised with a cinematic TV commercial starring Taylor, was an enormous and enduring commercial success, with total sales of US$1.5 billion as of 2018. Though not the first celebrity fragrance, the unprecedented success of White Diamonds popularised the trend of celebrity-branded perfumes which accelerated in the following decades.[1]
Taylor partnered with Elizabeth Arden Inc., then a division of Parfums International (now owned by IFF), to create White Diamonds.
Description
White diamonds is a floral perfume with notes of rose, jasmine, neroli, narcissus, and Egyptian tuberose. According to an executive at Elizabeth Arden who worked with Taylor on White Diamonds, the perfume used a higher-than-normal concentration of oil (25% rather than the usual 12%) to create a heavier scent.
The perfume is sold in a bottle decorated with small imitation white diamond gemstones.
Review
I was delighted to recieve this fragrance after discovering it a few years ago now, ( I think at least a year ago anyway).
I hadn’t heard of it, so wonder if it has been re released or I just didn’t know where it was sold, maybe only in America.
I opened it as soon as I unpacked it as couldn’t wait to try it.
Been thinking about how to review it.
What I’m overwhelmed by is the fragrance of what I thought was White Lily but not quite.
Lillies have always been one of my favourite flowers, so maybe why the confusion.
I was close, but the fragrance is Amazon Lily.
Love Tuber Rose also as that was the one I chose from Jo Malone, interesting to find it is actually Egyptian.
What brings these two fragrances together for me is Sandalwood.
I once experimented at making perfume and opted for sandalwood, it was gorgeous, but didn’t continue as it was so expensive, sort of regret not keeping the blend.
I think this perfume is quite magical because of the Sandalwood.
I kind of get it now.
As I’m not a perfume expert I didn’t quite get it at first, think this fragrance possibly is inspired by Jungle Gardenia type perfumes from the ’50’s.
It is a classic perfume
the amber and patchouli also add oriental vibes.
I will definately purchase more of this perfume, it is really me.
Wonder if it inspired by Cleopatra as she would wear magical perfume of course.

Wonder if the blue eyeshadow look was created for Elizabeth Taylor in Cleopatra.
This is screaming Film Makeup to me ~ need to do Cleopatra the film and this makeup blog.
Perfume Art and Makeup Art
Have to say Egypt was one of my favourite themes at art college, you sort of see where this started from.
The perfume is really reduced at the moment, but blending this originally is really expensive.
Worth trying it on offer as I presume it will have to go back to its original price.
Conclusion
As the world has gone so dull, Elizabeth Taylor is a fantastic source of inspiration to cheer us all up and fill us with magical advertising of yore.
Obviously these aren’t my memories, but I knew living like this is an option if life gets dull or just isn’t your scene.
My friends live in the 60’s.
I was just going to live in the 70’s but I’ve recently got into more eras thanks to weekend TV.
I think the power of this advertising has got lost in translation somewhere when you do a google search and find inaccurate unfactual blogs blocking up the internet as usual.
If you didn’t get this perfume either maybe this has shed some light on it.

I’m enlightened on my White Diamonds Perfume and love it even more now.
I drew hieroglyphics and Egyptian Lillies all the time at art college not actually thinking it through this far.
Back to the mundane world and;
Just need to go for a romantic evening out dowsed in White Diamonds with a low cut evening dress and fur coat to live the dream of this perfume, some diamond jewellery would be quite nice also.
10/10 highly recommend after wearing a few times, studying it and thinking it through.
