Jo Malone London’s Marvellous Marmalade Recipe
Recipe
makes 7 x 220g Jars
1kg Organic oranges
1.5L Water
300g Sliced rhubarb
1.3kg Jam sugar
2g Dried edible lavender
2g Pink peppercorns, crushed
Juice of 1 lemon
Method:
1. Place the water and oranges – whole, stalk-end removed – in a heavy-based saucepan. Cover and bring to the boil, then reduce to a gentle simmer for 30 minutes. Remove from the heat and leave contents to cool completely.
2. Once cool, transfer the oranges to a bowl. Strain the cooking liquid, reserving 900ml in a bowl.
3. Halve the oranges, scoop the flesh into a sieve set over the reserved liquid and thoroughly drain the juices. Reserve the rinds. Wrap the strained flesh in muslin, tie tightly with string.
4. Wash and drain the rhubarb stalks. Roughly slice into 5cm rounds.
5. Place the sliced rhubarb and 100ml water into a heavy-based preserving pan. On a low heat, cook gently until broken down. Once softened, turn the heat off.
6. Thinly slice the orange rinds and add to the pan of cooked rhubarb. Add the reserved liquid, muslin-wrapped orange, jam sugar, lavender, crushed pink peppercorns and lemon juice and bring to the boil. Boil for 30-35 minutes, until the marmalade reaches setting point (105C on a sugar thermometer). Note: watch the temperature; you may need to reduce the stove heat during cooking.
7. Once cooked, turn the heat off and remove the muslin parcel. Leave the pan to rest for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Pour into warm sterilised jars. Seal immediately. Store in a cool, dark place.

Not sure if they are collectible but can’t resist them ~ quite fun and a bit like having a second childhood, but you don’t have to worry about the Barbie thing.
Interested to see what orange marmalade cologne smells like?
Definitely trying the recipe.

A DROP MAGNIFYING THE UNSUSPECTED BEAUTY OF NATURE.
Image

Joyful and radiant: a floral and solar feminine composition.
Look at the world from a new perspective with a drop d’Issey Eau de Parfum and see the hidden beauty of nature. Enlighten your mood with a wildly feminine composition: an enveloping solar bouquet of lilac with a musky note and an almond milk facet. Follow a drop in its journey through nature. In a transparent droplet, the drop loses its shape, then takes on a new one. It flattens out, then bounces back. it reflects, rebounds, and changes your perspective. The pure, round-shaped bottle combines the simplicity of a perfect, poetic shape with the deliberately tactile facet of the bottle in a single piece. Like a mirror and magnifying glass, it makes way for dreams, for poetry, and fantasy.

A fragrance inviting you to discover the poetry and unsuspected beauty of nature. Watch film
OLFACTIVE
NOTES
A drop d’Issey Eau de Parfum is a solar enveloping fragrance for women.
It reveals the scent of an uncatchable flower, the lilac, whose scent cannot be extracted from the flower in nature and was recomposed for the first time by perfumer Ane Ayo. How? By using green chemistry to make the most of highly innovative techniques while protecting actual lilacs since the flowers do not need to be harvested. It is nature, recreated by the human hand.
In the top notes, Damask rose adds a pure, sheer floral facet. In the heart of the fragrance, lilac is enhanced by a note of ethically sourced orange blossom and an almond milk accord. In the base notes, a musky accord meets upcycled cedarwood and vanillin to complete the olfactory trail.

Lilac Accord
The solar and enveloping lilac accord is the captivating signature of a drop d’Issey.

Almond Milk Accord
The almond milk accord magnifies the enveloping facet of the scent with its creamy and gourmand characteristics.

Muksy Notes
The musky notes enhance the minerality of the scent for an enticing long-lasting trail.

A drop d’Issey, the new Eau de Parfum for women by Issey Miyake, invites you to look at the world from a new perspective, to discover the hidden beauty and poetry of nature. It is at once a mirror, a magnifying glass. It opens your mind to admire what your eyes can’t see. Suspended in front of a lilac flower that peeks out from behind it, the drop reveals a butterfly hiding among the petals, magnifying the unsuspected beauty of nature.

Then I remembered the mint shop from The Perfume Society
Easy, breezy mint-infused scents for keeping your cool
Used for centuries the world over to cool, soothe and refresh, mint comes into its own in the sweltering heat of a city, to use while wandering the white beaches of an exotic island, or to splash on at any time to instantly revive the senses and soothe troubled spirits.
More correctly known by the name Mentha (from Greek míntha) there are many differing varieties – the species ranging from 13-18 depending on who you ask, and proving rather indistinct to categorise exactly as hybridisation between the species occurs naturally. In historical terms, mint was often used within various preparations to be taken as a herbal remedy for digestive complaints, to calm inflamed skin and also (of course) to splash on as a tonic for the senses.

In Greek mythology, meanwhile, mint is seen as “the herb of hospitality”- early records show mint was strewn over floors to deodorise and freshen rooms, as stepping on the leaves helped to spread its scent through the room, masking noxious odours. Perhaps we might bring this idea for the more noisome areas of cities in the heat (and obligatory in all tube stations?!)

So, if you’re flagging and need an olfactory boost – no matter the weather – let’s meander to these easy, breezy, simply delightful mint-infused scents we’re reaching for right now…
Opted for Molten Brown

Molton Brown Wild Mint & Lavandin
This is an utterly unisex, breezily fragrant invitation to get back to nature. Molton Brown’s finger firmly on the fragrant pulse here, reviving flagging spirits via wild mint, vivid verdancy of torn basil leaves grounded by a caress of orris, silky sandalwood and rounded by tonka.
£85 for 100ml eau de toilette moltonbrown.co.uk
and

Roos & Roos Globulus
The camphoraceous mintiness of Eucalyptus Globulus is a whoosh of freshness emanating from skin as though you’re imbued with coolness from within. Gloriously uplifting, the breeze carries wafts of cardamom, freshly crumpled mint leaves torn and the airiness of ‘crystal moss’.
£110 for 100ml eau de parfum harveynichols.com
Conclusion
The star of this perfume Junky show is obviously Paddington!!!
Really glad I subscribed to get the offer.
Harrods emails pointed out I’d missed Louboutin from my Harrods shop, so rectified that one.
Then the rest of the shop was back to nature with first the Issey Miyake, then the lesson on mint from perfume society.
As this is going on, quite enjoying archiving all the graphics, videos and information.
I’ve never done anything like this before so finding it really exciting and it is enhancing my life.
Hope you are finding something from this journey too.
Have a lovely Sunday,
Saphire
