Having given up on hair salons till someone puts the world back together after the pandemic, (hopefully).
After the weird brush snapped my hair, I’ve gone back to my teenage years when I did my own hair and my friends’ hair.
After creating my own world, (a trick I learned from my friend from university’s boyfriend, he had his house repossessed as a teenager and they took his record collection, so he got into vintage records instead and taught all his friends how to do it).
As I wasn’t very well off at the time it meant I could buy and get into music, the funniest one was a hand-pressed record by a hair Krishna called Think Before You Drink.
Just found this video on youtube with a Hari Krishna theme. Love vintage Asian films.
As COVID killed culture or whatever?
I decided to try his technique out again, this time on YouTube.
It also led to fashion, which has gone since covid.
I’m living in other people’s music memories again, but quite enjoying it.
One look I’m loving at the moment is the Renee look in the Renee and Renato music video.
Not sure how old the couple are but I realised it is a look anyone can do at almost any age. I’m not bothered about what people think so if you’re not either, you can do this at any age.
I come from a town where women stay glamorous all their lives, so having to look classy when you are older doesn’t make sense to me.
If you’re a teenager reading this, it might be a bit boring for you, but if you are older than a teenager reading this, there used to be a famous hairdresser who said you could have long hair at any age, and also older women suited long hair better.
The thing to do is style it though and not have it wild and straggly, women of yore used to say that was the wild woman of Borneo look. I looked up what that actually was.

Wow, that statement is possibly racist. It actually sounds quite like a beautiful place, better than rainy, bitchy Britain.
Description of borneo
Borneo, a giant, rugged island in Southeast Asia’s Malay Archipelago, is shared by the Malaysian states of Sabah and Sarawak, Indonesian Kalimantan and the tiny nation of Brunei. It’s known for its beaches and ancient, biodiverse rainforest, home to wildlife including orangutans and clouded leopards. In Sabah is 4,095m-tall Mount Kinabalu, the island’s highest peak, and, offshore, the famed dive site Sipadan Island.

You aren’t allowed to say things like this anymore as it is ridiculously bitchy like the gran in After Henry, the addictive 80’s sitcom.

This actually leads me to a hairstyle I was thinking of trying.
Possibly will end up looking like the Wild Woman of a boring average town lol!!!

Bought some hair powder the other day and found this photo this morning. I used to do a brunette version of this without a fringe and liked it because it gave my fine hair volume.
Will let you know if this project ever happens.
I used to do it with talc and hairspray, but an actual hair product would be preferable.

‘Going for that hairstyle at your age with that complexion!!!’
Am also planning to do the Renee Look, but for Brunettes, if you have blonde hair you are lucky, I would do the blonde version if I had a choice. Will do mine without a fringe.
My hair is quite long now, but if I keep growing it will be as long as Renees. The powder will add volume.

Actually, Renee’s volume isn’t in the lengths, she also styles it off her face so she isn’t hiding behind her hair, like hairdressers used to say.
Conclusion
Living in the past isn’t what people want to do really. We like to be in fashion, keep on trend, and live our lives to the full.
When you discover living in the past or as I am doing, living in other people’s pasts, it does eventually kick in and allow you to live your life to the full.
Sometimes you can even find music, fashions, and lifestyles that suit you better.
When you go out into the COVID world, no one knows what you are doing anyway. If anything they want to copy what your secret is. You can even cash in on it by selling your style or sharing this discovery.
I like the Renee look and will be collecting it in view of wearing it. If you like it too try it out.
Know you have this idea the world is your oyster and you can experiment with other looks and styles you discover.
This has all started to work for me again.
Will just do Saphire world until the real world resumes normality at a high standard again.
Will keep adding ideas to the Renee look if you love it too!!!
