Chosen this as I think too many people laugh at her in 2024, but she was actually really good at fashion as well as food. She was a well-needed and successful influencer of the 60’s after the austerity of World War 2, (this will make more sense to you after the WW2 party). She shopped on Bond Street which is the Beverly Hills/Milan/New York/Paris of England.
Will bring her up to date and focus on her eyebrows as I have similar eyebrows and love her old Hollywood look, mine are because I had a facial treatment when I was ill and not from overwaxing. Luckily I was told I suit this look by a proper makeup artist. To be honest, she even said I would look better without eyebrows ( which I drew back in as I thought that was too severe). Also a beautician told me to never wear too much makeup. I think the current makeup trend is ok if you suit thick eyebrows. I look stupid with big eyebrows as my natural eyebrows were fine. I’m sticking with my natural look but just penciling in a little more at the corners, drew them in really heavily one week and looked awful.

old Hollywood fine eyebrows. Think this is Marlene Dietrich’s look. To me, this looks like natural makeup. She has drawn in cats’ eyes, but it is how beauticians used to be trained to do eyebrows and makeup simple and classic.

The Fanny Cradock Dinner Party Look
As always won’t be doing a fancy dress version of Fanny Cradock, instead more a shop on Bond Street inspired by her influence. Fanny wears a lot of tribal jewellery which I remembered purchasing for the Armchair Cinema blog.
Rediscovered it is Pebble London that sells tribal jewellery.
Haven’t got the jewellery exactly right but these pieces are fairly unique, hers probably were. Tried to choose similar pieces throughout.
This look is actually a fashion extravaganza as Fanny loved fashion. Love her fashion sense.

For instance, white shoes and bag is really stunning, then the Salmon pinks are really sixties like Fanny, the browns and blacks are a practical sensible choice as they match anything, the blues and greens are quite experimental, this is what I mean about not being sure if it always works, this is also why you need to go into the shop as in reality the colours can be different. For this reason I’d play this look safe with sensible colours, then if it doesn’t look right you have shoes that will work with something else, rather than an experimental mess.
I would opt for something like these as they have a round toe and heel, so they would work with the colours, but if not match most items and mainly be comfortable.

Decided to get the gold ones as well as they look so comfortable ~ I’m not supposed to get gold, but I love these sandals in gold, if I got silver ones I’d want a higher heel.
These are great for work or going on holiday where you want to be casual and comfortable, but still dressy.

Found this dress, it isn’t exactly the same but think the chain detail has a 60’s flourish. It isn’t the same poppy red, but It might be more your seasonal colour. Went for the lower neckline and it creates a waist with the ruche and chain. The thing to do is pull this off to look expensive.

Again this isn’t exact, but I think hers might be mother of pearl. Also, I thought this was really pretty.

Like the colour of this, got one in storage that is my goal weight. It hasn’t got the same collar but it isn’t the 60’s. I’d leave quite a lot of buttons undone like Fanny. Think she wore shirt dresses. The sleeves are shorter, but obviously great for summer days. I could alter this easily myself if I had to.
Would wear it without the belt if it didn’t work and as I ordered small, but my hips are xxs, might make it into a blouse or mini blouse dress or even a blouse and skirt. You could use the belt to make a waistband. It might end up a tight skirt which would look great with the Alexander Mcqueen cami. Then of course it would match the jacket so you would have a skirt suit. Did needlework at school so guess it would come back how to do it.
You could play around with the other belts in this shop, the white nylon one would pull you in more than the fabric one maybe. The tribal one is probably too dressy.
You could wear pearls, but this one isn’t as dressy as the one Fanny is wearing. I’d maybe just add a bangle. But then I’m just learning. Almost anything goes when you get started with this.

Short Cotton Poplin A-Line Shirt Dress
Really like this but wonder if this colour is where seasonal colours work. I really don’t suit this colour even though I think it is lovely. This would work well with blonde hair. Putting this here as it has a zip so it is like both of the dresses above. You might even be able to take the belt off. The belt looks adjustable or you could replace it with a large stretch white belt.

Think this look would be approved by Fanny Craddock. Love this look. It is great if you want to be taken seriously. Also if you want to stand out, say at interviews or board meetings and so forth.
