This film is about being playful and kicking back when fashion is awful. At the moment the fashion is as horrible as in this film.
During summer I had a breakdown because of some weird-sized leggings. Never purchasing any of those ever again, however much someone pouts or beckons me with their finger?
As my hips hurt so much the only item of clothing I could get into was a dress, so I had to just pick one out of my wardrobe. I then had to make legging stockings out of the weird ones by cutting off the top part, (because I was really cold), This is how I discovered they were designed for someone really small, possibly a child?, pulling them tight caused me to have an accident and I had to go on medication. They were actually mis-sold, not sure if that is the same as rubbish fashion?
Pre-covid advertising and fashion were so good it was all done for us. Now it is rubbish, we are left having to do campaigns and fashion for ourselves. Fair enough it isn’t rocket science. But as I began a study into fashion and advertising when pre covid started, (actually a long time before pre covid), I have discovered it is actually a skill not everybody has.
The people doing fashion pre covid were actually really talented, I have to be honest and admit I can’t do what they did.
Kick back and wear a party dress This post covid Christmas 2023
The having-it-all experience is about this.
Basically, go to your wardrobe, choose a dress, and wear it around the house instead of leggings or over leggings if you haven’t any old tights.
If you haven’t worn a dress for a while and are cold, just wear a jumper over it. This look got me through my accident, so you will be fine wearing it for Christmas.
It feels really lovely and feminine just to be in a dress again.
Then wear it through the party season, or wear a few.
Play like you are a little girl with a dressing-up box or pretend you are a teenager again at a wild party.
If you have never done either of these before now is your chance. Once you are stoned from
a Nostalgic Christmas 2023
Now launched on Saphire pinterest and airing live on tumbler.
You won’t care what the covid fashion looks like because you will be enjoying yourself too much. If you are out clubbing you will discover what men really want!!! Dyan Cannon pulls two blokes in a hideous hat and oversized beige trenchcoat in having it all. you will be fighting them off!!! either that or you’ll clear the pub as they will think you are an undercover drugs detective.
If your hair needs doing and you can’t find a hairdresser because the hair salon is now something weird? try the headscarf idea.
converting an oversized scarf into a party headband and scarf
I did find when I unfastened the first knot I looked normal again, then I tried wrapping the loose ends as a neck scarf. This looked really good and has now given me an idea of what to do with oversized scarves.

If you get some old makeup out, you might even feel like having a photograph, with a glass of wine saying cheers!!!

Another idea to cover your hair is to wear a party hat from a cracker or make your own like the good life, style the lengths down one side and no one will realise what you are doing, but you know what – you will be kicking back!!!

If Margo can play we all can.
Margo was really posh and upper-crust, but she let her hair down at Christmas and got stoned on peapod wine. She has spent hours curling her hair perfectly to match the hand made sailor hat.
Try rag curlers if you can't purchase real ones. You could cut up a rubbish oversized covid shirt, just sleep in them on Christmas eve. remember to do them just at the ends of your hair to look pretty.
Remember your manicure as well!!!
This blog might be useful if you get the Barry M set from Argos, I’m saving my gift for Christmas day.
If you do it before Christmas Eve, this will give you some photo opportunities, a great tip I noticed Taylor Swift did was hide behind your drink glass like the woman in Season of the Witch.

This posing trick emphasizes your nails and eyeshadow, in my case, it will hide my chin and cheeks.
Not sure if I’m ready for photographs yet, but will be wearing dresses every day and will photograph my manicure. Think this is the classic first step back. As Raquel Welch says one step at a time does it every time.
If you are ahead of me, hope this inspires you.
Having it all
the film

Film Synopsis
The lead character becomes a bigamist without realising it is illegal. She runs her own fashion business, but I wonder if the film is actually mocking the fashion industry as the clothes are awful and make everyone look their worst, similar to post-COVID fashion in 2023. The head designer hates designing clothes that don’t fit her and would rather design clothes that fit her properly. She leaves and finds the world is run by people who don’t appreciate fashion and she ends up designing different clothes that are still horrible. Dyan Cannon gives us the tip to kick out in horrible clothes rather than stay static and depressed.

review
I really like Dyan Cannon’s films, she is like the honest girlfriend you want to go clothes shopping with. She points out what doesn’t suit you, even if it hurts you, but it is what you need to push you to get your style together. This film is hilarious. Like how it reverses the older man syndrome getting a younger woman. She is lucky that they both love her enough not to sue!!!
Will put this in spa day films as it is one you can watch over and over again.
Dyan Cannon has just made a new 4 part mini-series about Carry Grant
