This film proves there is fashion for smaller women in the 60’s even though we are being told they wasn’t. Did notice a horrible dress that had padding round the hips. When she took it off she had slim hips. These ideas are high fashion or fashion mistakes that don’t carry through when fashion changes. What I am learning from film fashion is to purchase classic outfits that will last you every season and avoid high fashion, unless you have a feeling the item may become a new classic or you just love the look and aren’t bothered about wasting money and are happy to throw it away when it dates.

That was the idea behind New Look – To invest in classic pieces from expensive shops, but spend less at New Look on fickle fashion pieces that you could afford to throw away when fashion changed.

Sustainability is against this concept, but the fashion pieces of this trend are more ridiculous than ever and cost too much for fickle fun. They also only fit certain body types so only they can have fun. When fashion changes they will be left with very expensive fashion mistakes. Sustainability is therefore a contradiction in terms.
