ordering a new sewing machine for the first time since I threw away my old one

My first and only sewing machine was a singer. It got me through university and lasted up until before covid.

I studied textile art not fashion design. This is my biggest regret since covid fashion; if I had opted for fashion in the final year I wouldn’t of become a famous designer, but I could of made my own clothes.

However, I did study needlework at school, so I can make basic alterations to post covid fashion, which still hasn’t gone away?

Today I’m trying to purchase a singer sewing machine.

Watching the online demonstration for:

Singer M2105 Sewing Machine with 167 piece Sewing Kit

I feel confident this will be a great purchase for me. It is very like my old one, so I should be able to use it immediately with no steep computerised learning curves.

It is a fair price and if I decide to go no further than alterations it is an essential edition to every home.

This model appealed to me as it is equipped with basic essentials, so I don’t have to waste further time surfing the net.

An added bonus is the free gift if you purchase it today.

Singer is such a good company, this offer is perfect for the first time buyer or someone starting again after a few years break from sewing.

Really miss my faithfull old singer.

Not sure I want to sew much anymore as my life moved on after university, but as my shape doesn’t fit any fashion design measurements, will definately need to alter my clothes.

After studying clothes measurements online, realise why I have always struggled to find clothes that fit me.

For instance was reading about a rebellion against the shop Jane Norman. After reading it, I had to be honest and thought back to how it didn’t really fit me properly. Got a few long dresses in storage that I sort of squeezed into, so I didn’t really suit them. When I get my new sewing machine I think I will have a go at altering them.

The only way you can get clothes to fit are:

If you are like the shop or designer model, if you change your body to fit the clothes, if you have your own coture designer or my option is to just alter them.

One key tip I have learnt over the covid years is to purchase clothes that are too big as oppose to too small; you can take things in easier than trying to expand an outfit out.

Checking some clothes out today with view to altering them.

Will blog the results if this project ever happens.
